Is it? I believe Puerto Rico and some of the Caribbean countries have considered it. I just didn't know if any of the EU countries could be admitted as states in the USA because of the Atlantic Ocean. If they are able to be brought in, i'm sure some of the smaller countries like Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Denmark, etc could be good candidates to be admitted. Not sure about the larger countries like Germany, Spain, Italy etc.

Yes, it is but you're right it is only the smaller countries as the larger ones won't fit.

I find it unlikely that Denmark would want to be part of the united states...

Puerto Rico has voted 3 times to reject becoming official US state. Also btw there is nothing that stops this in US law. Congress would have to ratify it to start the process. There is also an EXTREMELY super racist Supreme Court decision from like 1901 that does not automatically make them states without congressional approval.

I don't see any benefit in them doing so. I rather keep my sanity and go there as a tourist to experience the good and come back home to avoid the bad.

One of the UK countries would make the most sense, but they are still very nationalistic and I don't see them wanting to..

Not sure we follow the same media. Trump wanted to drop the Nato and Trump wants to for some reason charge members for not meeting their personal set out requirement and pay that to the US, while nobody asked the US to do more and pump in more money in their own military. To join the US they'd be giving up most of their sovereignty to the federal government. So, less freedom than being in the EU. So no, I don't think they'd be down for that.

Isn't it the "United States of America". Europe isn't in America, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean is technically in the americas -- just not North America. It's like Russia applying to be in the EU. At least that would be geographically correct since part of it is in Europe (the end of Europe is at the Ural mountains), not that they would want to or that they would be let it. That said tho they would probably have a better shot at getting in then Turkey ever will. Originally Posted by Jaylock

It's possible, sure. If they vote to join and Congress votes to admit them, they're a state.
