Which parts should I upgrade on 4 yo custom PC?

    Hey everybody,

I built my PC shortly after GW2 was released so around Sept 2012. It's starting to show its age with a few freezes here and there and i think the Msi fan system is borked up (is either off or full blast, no in between). So i was going to upgrade the graphics card but i was wondering what all else i should upgrade. Below is a cut and paste of my newegg invoice from 2012.

Thermaltake Chaser Series Chaser MK-I (VN300M1W2N) Black SECC ATX Full Tower Computer Case ATX PS2 Power Supply
ASUS P8Z77-V LX LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
    MSI GeForce GTX 680 Twin Frozr 4GD5/OC 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5
    Antec HCG M Series HCG-620M 620W
    Intel Core i7-3770 Ivy Bridge Quad-Core 3.4GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W BX80637I73770 Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4000
SanDisk Extreme 2.5" 240GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SDSSDX-240G-G25
    Team Vulcan 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model TXD316G1600HC9QC-V
Cooler Master MegaFlow 200 - Sleeve Bearing 200mm Silent Fan for Computer Cases (Black)

So far from newegg i was thinking about this:

Here is a list of games that i play and I would like to play them at ultra or even high settings is fine too
    WoW
    Nier: Automata
Fallout 4 (with lots of visual mods)
Skyrim (with lots of visual mods)
    Metal Gear Solid 5
    Rise of the Tomb Raider

Memory speed is fine and has no noticable effect on pre skylake CPU's. I would start with just a new GPU (something like a GTX 1070) and see if you are happy with the results b4 spending more money, your CPU should still be more then enough for most games.

If all i'm doing is a GPU i probably could go right from a 1050 to a 1070.

I like MSI and i guess something like that would be fine.

What @Denpepe said is accurate, just wanted to backup his statement.

I don't know anything about that specific 1070 other than what's listed on Newegg, but I see no reason not to get it if you can afford it.

    Hey again everybody,

Just wanted to bring this back up one more time. Had some other IRL stuff go on and i'm going to hold off on upgrading the PC. Right now the only thing i can maybe do is the graphics card, and i'm back down to the ~150 dollar versions.

Games list is still the same with the addition of Heroes of the Storm which i've started to play a few days ago. I really want to play Nier: Automata and MGSV a lot though. I havent been playing those as much even though i've had both games for a while for fear of burning out my graphics card.

Not worth it, the 1050ti is a sidegrade to the 680. With your budget I would squeeze for a RX 570. As for the rest of your system you really don't need to upgrade anything else.
