He simply can't imagine anyone doing something without being paid for it. Trump and his family don't do anything unless there's money in it for them, and the same goes for everyone in his circle. The guy travels to events with his own paid crowd of supporters, so he figures that everyone against him must be getting paid too.

It's not really 'pointlessly'. There is a good possibility the reason he doesn't want to release his full tax returns has something to do with something to hide. It shows something that even Nixon and Hilary put their taxes on the line for the world to see, but Donny is just too good for that.

Plus, why not hit him on every front involving every idiotic incompetence he's been apart of? Seems to be working for the protesters if they are making Donny rage on twitter again. He only does that if something gets under his orangey skin.

Its not stupid at all. Its doing what it is supposed to do - helping keep up the pressure on Trump. Surely you have noticed what is going on? He is taking thousands of little cuts on this or that issue where each cut does not do much damage, but the cumulative effect is to keep his popularity in the trash bin.
