I'm almost curious to try whitelisting for fun. I want to see how the site runs, because as it stands the only site worse than Wowhead is the official Blizz site. How the fuck are those two sites so damn slow?
What adblocker do you use that doesn't get these kind of anti adblock things? As more and more sites get that I'd love to find one that blocks them.
And yeah on topic it is pretty annoying due to how mmo-champion already is pretty shitty in regards to both ads and loading times, it's one of the few websites that occasionally cause my browser to crash.
^^ Absolutely, the forum runs like a sack of cack with ads enabled. I don't have a problem with ads themselves but the scripts involved with them don't play nicely with the vboard; or the destination servers themselves cannot handle the referrals and take an age to load/become unresponsive. This site is one of the few I use which I will not white-list, as doing so renders it unusable for me.
np, try this

i switched to it based off recommendations of people on this site, it seems to catch more than adblock+
Just posting to support the OP. One of the main reasons I started using Ad Blocker was because of MMO-C.
Is there any throwback when i just use adblock+ in conjunction with ublock ?, i just installed ublock moments ago based on the recommendations in this thread.
What's the big deal? It has a Close button. Either whitelist the site or click Close. This is a 1st world problem, really.
Also, I didn't know Adblock Plus was on Internet Explorer too!
I'm not usina any ad blocker and I don't have any ads on mmo..
Was gonna say I had the pop up, read the thread followed the above advice and now the pop-up is gone.
Hell some of the old ads on here would fucking give me malware warnings from my anti virus.
Just started getting those as well. A lot of fun closing a box taking half of your screen almost every time you open a new page.
You need the ads for revenue. I get that. But unless there is a 100% guarantee (no idea if that is ever possible) hazardous ads won't start popping one day like we have seen in the past, I'm not going to start whitelisting anything.
If this thing would respect the close button and never pop up again, there wouldn't be a thread like this.
This site and wowhead were the reasons I finally installed an adblocker. Both had ads that *redirected* the page to a porn hub, and both did *nothing* after repeated notifications about the problem.
Thanks for the ublock recommendation, I'll try that (Vivaldi/Chromium).
besides front page news, there is little 'content' here these days. most serious game oriented discussion takes place on the discords. a change like this will only lead for less reason to frequent the site. no biggy tho (つ°ヮ°)つ
