If its just a vid link with a few sentences saying watch my vid guide regardless it should and will get locked. If they took the time to actually write up a TLDW of it with a quick recap of things that is different.

He did write about a paragraph of info on what he was going to discuss, should be more then enough for most websites like these... especially being that the rules DO NOT state that your required to do that anyways.

I feel like ive successfully defended any argument that anyone has been able to come up with. Again like in my 1st post, I'm calling for a reform or refresh of how the rules are stated. Personally I think the system from Reddit is almost perfect. Make rules stating that in order to post a video etc you need to be an active forum user for at least a week with a minimum number of posts. The poster also must be active in the thread that they have posted. And no more then 1 type of these posts week. Not only will this encourage posters to post higher quality content, but it will insure discussion and possibly bring in more people to the discussions i.e. more cash for the owners of MMO champ from advertising.

The post you link in an earlier reply is a vid advertisement, he tells you about the vid and whats in the vid which makes it advertisement. If he wrote up a TLDW aka To Long Didn't Watch that is a written summary of his script like for BG's XXXX talent setup, for Arena XXXXX talent setup, etc that is different because he wrote up an actual guide to go along with it instead of just linking some video. The OP doesn't even ask for feedback or open it up to discussion, not to mention that his topics discuses list makes the vid more video blog than guide.

It is at mod discretion, but if he took the time to write a summary of the things he covered like an actual guide that people could read i highly doubt they would of closed it.

Edit:He also spammed a second thread of same vid and spam OP within 6 minutes in another forum on this site, which also adds up to advertisement.

Dont try to advertise your pathetic attempt at youtube money.

Nobody care about your video here, really. Thanks mods for your free work.

To be fair, I thought this thread brought up a good point about posters being able to post Patreon links/images in their posts. I....don't think it should be allowed. I think the rules for that should be clarified.
Anyone who uses the word "cancer" as a slang term to mean 'bad' automatically gets added to my ignore list.

There is no double standerd. Guide writers make long detailed guides and are more or less expected to continue helping in the discussion to answer questions. Having links in their guides just provides an extra avenue for people to see things related to the guide they have written. Doing so means months, sometimes years of being a valuable member of this forum. That in no way compares to just posting a thread for a video with a short summary.

We have these rules in place and have stickies for video content in most class forums because otherwise every one from the smallest to the most well known video content creator would come to this forum to post a thread about their new video they made and the forums would become unreadable. This is not some phantom idea, we regularly have to ban people that try to use this forum to continually post videos and try to get clicks on them. The rules are strict to make sure the forum stays clean.

What we DO allow is for people to contribute on the forums and have a text link in their signature leading to whatever content they create. That means you get exposure if you contribute and you do not get exposure when you do not contribute on the forums, which is as it should be.

So while we are not going to change the rules, I wil go through the Class forums and make sure every class subforum has it's own sticky where people can post their class related content, cause it does make sense for people to be able to post content like that in a way that keeps the forums clean while still providing content for those interested in it.

Given that there is little else to discuss about this I'm going to close this thread here.
