The race is so even one can't judge whether Le Pen will be second in the first round or not just on exit polls.

Two rounds. First round is candidates from all parties. The top two get to round two. Then on round two you pick the lesser of two evils. Originally Posted by mittacc

The two with highest numbers in the first round face off in the 2nd round. Theoretically if someone had >50% in the first round there wouldn't be a 2nd round, but that hasn't happened. Originally Posted by mittacc

Macron is more right wing than left wing, he is very liberal.
But with how far Macron was ahead in the polls against Le pen, I think we can place bets on who the next France president will be. And the left-wing will only be even more pissed in 5 years.

Well, exit polls just gave the first round to Macron. Unless something extreme happens the next two weeks, here we have the new French President.
NOTE: I know they are just exit polls, it's too close to call.

Exit polling is - Macron 23.7% Le Pen 21.7% Fillon 19.5% Melenchon 19.5%.
But its so close that any one of Le Pen, Fillon, and Melenchon could go to the second round with Macron. Either way Le Pen isn't going to president, she'd get trounced in the second round. The same holds true of Melenchon. In fact it also holds true for Fillon.
Macron vs Le Pen - everyone not on the far right votes for Macron giving Macron the win
Macron vs Fillon - Leftists vote for Macron over the conservative Fillon giving Macron the win
Macron vs Melenchon - right wingers vote for Macron over the far leftist Melenchon
