HOTS-like mod project in RTS Format! Playable Beta is up!

    Greetings, fellow mmo-champion users!

I'm the author and creator of the StormCraft Armies project, an RTS game, featuring playable factions from Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo universes in a single RTS environment, developed on the Starcraft 2 Engine. The project is 1.5 years in the development and 6 months in the open Beta. With 4 factions and a total of 6 subfactions available at this moment and 2 more factions and a total of 3 subfactions coming in a couple of months. The factions available at the moment are: Kingdom of Stromgarde, Undead of Khanduras, Niadra's Brood and Warsong Clan, with Frostwolf Clan and Amani Empire coming in a few months.

Now what exactly are subfactions? Subfactions in our project are different alternate variations of the factions from the main lore. Since, Warcraft universe has several timelines and dimensions, we will use Subfactions to present a canon version of the Faction as a subfaction and an alternate one from "different Warcraft universe".

    Just a small Q/A:

Q: Okay, it's all great and cool, but how much do I need to wait to try it out?
A: No need to wait, you can already play it! Yup, the very first alpha version is out and you can play it here on Starcraft Arcade for free!

Q: How can I play this game?
A:Just download StarCraft 2: Starter Editon for free and start playing!: https://us.battle.net/account/sc2/starter-edition/
The mod comes completely free, and you don't even need to own a SC2 copy to play! Free starter edition is enough!

    TL;DR (Q/A Style)
Q: What is StormCraft Armies: Worlds Collide?
A: It's a total conversion mod project, developed on StarCraft 2 Engine. The mod itself is an RTS game, with different factions from Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo lore.

Q: Is there a storyline behind the mod? Or is it just "pick your race and kill all" style project only?
A: The mod actually has a storyline, focusing on the events of alternate reality Azeroth, where the aftermath of Legion Expansion events in WoW ended not in the favor of Azeroth. A group of renegade dragons, formed from various Aspects decided to travel back in time and change the course of events to prevent the destruction of the world, that's happening in the current timeline. However, since there can only be one main timeline, they are using a powerful artifact to change the main timeline. Which, in turn, causes series of catastrophic events. However, they succed in what they are doing by altering the timeline and bringing Azeroth back to the Warcraft 2 era.

Q: What Warcraft races/factions are playable? Is that list final?
A: In the initial alpha release, you can play as: Kingdom of Stromgarde and Warsong Clan with Frostwolf Clan and Kingdom of Stormwind coming in future releases.

    Q: What? Only 2 factions?
A: Yes and no, while there are only 2 factions from the Warcraft Universe, there are also factions from Starcraft and Diablo universes. Besides, each faction has a subfactions system, technically turning a faction into 3 mini-factions which are all different from each other significantly.

Q: Are you open to feedback and suggestions? I want X faction to be playable someday, is that possible?
A: Yes, any faction from any Blizzard main 3 universes is a possible addition in a future content update. There will be community polls, where you can vote for the faction you'd like to be implemented! While the factions for the next coming major update are already set in stone, right after that release, we plan to include at least 1 faction based on votes in the third release, with more voted factions coming later.

Q: Where can I check for updates and news regarding the mod?
    A: Here's a moddb link for the project: http://www.moddb.com/mods/stormcraft...-rise-of-strom

Q: Is there any way to contribute to the project or help/support?
A: Sure, if you rate us 5 stars on StarCraft 2 Arcade and write just a few kind words - that would mean a world to us.

Please note, that it's just a 2 man project and we have worked day and night very, very hard to make this playable. More updates, polish and balancing will come.

I played it few times, was fun indeed. A shame only there is one map for now.

Also personally i could love see Alliance, Horde, Protoss, Terrans, Barbarians from Diablo factions as well. Eventually also Nightborne, Burning Legion, Scourge etc.

We have updated the project with new maps and a Co-Op mode that you might enjoy as well! New factions are definitely coming, so, stay tuned!

This looks really cool! However, this is related more to Starcraft 2 than to Heroes of the Storm, so I'll be moving the thread to the Video Games forum.

Best of luck with the project.

Yup. New game modes are definitely planned. The Allied Commanders (Co-Op) mode in SC2 is a pretty good reference for what we have planned in terms of game modes and objective-based gameplay. That being said, we are now focused on adding new content like new factions and subfactions as much as possible and then work on game modes.

I hope only maps for CO-Op might be some fun and mixed with universes like ya know... CO-OP Hearthglen defend from WC3. <3

Well, in my defense I can say that things actually look a lot nicer in-game
