Rudy Giuliani doesn't believe Knicks fans should bench their support for Carmelo Anthony amid reports he cheated on his wife — since so many athletes do it.
"I don't think you judge sports characters based on things like that," he told TMZ Sports. "Otherwise you'd probably lose half of them."
And that goes for politicians, too. The former NYC mayor famously got in hot water when he announced his separation from second wife Donna Hanover at a City Hall press conference in 2000 —
amid speculation about his public "friendship" with Judith Nathan. Nathan went on to become the third Mrs. Giuliani.
The infidelity aficionado shared his wisdom on the subject as recently as last October when NBC's Chuck Todd questioned whether Giuliani was the right person to criticize Hillary and Bill Clinton's marriage.
Carmelo Anthony now at a crossroads professionally and personally
"You have your own infidelity charge," Todd said.
Giuliani responded, "Well, everybody does. And I'm a Roman Catholic, and I confess those things to my priest."
A request for comment was not immediately returned by a Giuliani spokesperson.
Anthony, 32, is now the subject of cheating rumors a day after TMZ reported that the Knicks superstar is splitting from his wife of seven years.
La La Anthony seen in Tribeca without her wedding ring
An unidentified dancer at a New York City gentlemen's club claims the 10-time NBA All-Star got her pregnant, and says she's six and a half months along, TMZ Sports reported.
That pregnancy was reportedly not the tipping point in their split, however. A source close to the couple told the Daily News that their issues go back a ways.
"They have been fighting for about a year," the source told the Daily News. "The marriage has always been a rocky one, so this is no surprise."
Anthony and La La have been together since 2004, dating back to the days when she hosted MTV's "Total Request Live".
