Are you unhappy if your performance currently? If not I dont see any reason to upgrade. Nvidia seems to be pushing cards with meaningful performance improvements at a steady pace so whenever you start feeling you're lacking you can always grab something reasonably faster. So if you're asking is 1080ti something that will be a king for a long time (discarding Titans) then answer is probably not. Given how long Volta has been in development we can definetely expect a bigger increase between architectures as per Maxwell vs Pascal (1070 is about equal to 980ti, and 1080ti is about 45-50% faster than 1070, so about 50% increase per generation).

I would upgrade, but thats because I know from benchmarks a single 1070 does not do 60+ solid fps @ 3440x1440 in a bunch of newer games (@ Ultra settings ofc)

if you already have 60-100 then theres no point
