    "Pay to Win"

What is YOUR definition of "pay to win"?

As it relates to WoW, do you believe the game is now pay to win, or not at all pay to win?

Cant someone ban you again for stupid posts?

WoW doesnt have a single P2W element.

Pay to win is when game provides gear/damage/buffs with money that are relevant to the active progression of the game.

Rift and earring slots as example.

Buff scrolls in old MMOs back in 2003-2005.

Not pay to win at all. If I could buy tier gear/any kind of gear with stats = pay to win.

Currently, I don't see WoW as pay to win.

Not at all. I can throw hundreds of dollars at Blizzard, and what can I get? Services for my character(s) or guild, real-life merchandise, game time, mounts, and pets. It's not at all advantageous over other players' experiences.

not pay to win atm but pay to have a huge advantage... you can indirectly buy gold. with gold you can buy ledgenderies, boosts etc..you won't be #1 but can easily be top 10-20% with enough gold/irl money

Paying to see you get permanently banned from these forums forever so you'd get off your pathetic trolling lifestyle and get a fucking job.

    Infracted

That's not Blizzard's fault, and they're working on cracking down on accounts that purchase gold.

The definition of Pay 2 Win is easy: Pay real money and make your character stronger. WoW has nothing of this sort.

One might argue that being able to "buy" gold is a factor here, but Gold is so easy to get otherwise, and has no direct character upgrade effects for most people (ie. only if you have nothing you might be able to buy some basic gear, certainly won't surpass any decent active player), and Blizzard doesn't exactly sell you new gold, they just offer a trading platform for people to exchange it between another.

MY definition of P2W is when you can pay money to win.

That is also everyone else's definition.

    WoW is not P2W.

You mean the crafted ones? Well, those are all sorts of crappy, and getting two real legendaries doesn't take all that long of playtime.

I agree with you though. I don't think WoW is pay to win at all, but some people do. I'd like to know what people's definition of Pay to win is and if they think WoW falls into that category.

Well Jay this is my definition of Pay to Win.

Being able to gain a direct power advantage over players and the best gear for real money such as tier sets. Sure there are unofficial methods of Real Money boosts but those are against the rules.

So no WoW is not pay to win.

Ah, I thought you meant from third-party sites.

Honestly, from an economics standpoint, the WoW Token's effect was minute, if not nonexistent.

I can't wait to win at being slightly better at WQ farming compared to non-raiders and overall still worse compared to raiders.

Buying any ingame advantage with real money is pay to win, so yeah, WoW is pay to win ever since they introduced the WoW token. I mean we can now even buy legendary items with real money.

Everything is for sale in wow. Any achievement you want to have has a price tag on it and blizzard is raking in the cash because of it. How is that not pay to win? It's been this way a long time, but it's gone to the extreme in this expansion.
