Correct. Mercenary Mode does not apply to PvP Brawls. (WarcraftDevs)

    Ghostcrawler Tweets
Ghostcrawler still occasionally talks about WoW. Remember that he no longer works for or speaks for Blizzard.

They use a resource (energy) which regenerates over short time frames. So it’s possible to go all out, but have enough resources to be able to push buttons again in a relatively short time (compared to say mana). We always liked this design because it’s very easy for rotations to fall into a pattern of “you must always push X when it is on cooldown.” Energy regeneration adds an extra wrinkle to this discussion.

Then, there are basically two kinds of abilities. Things that generate combo points and things that consume combo points to cause big damage. It has that satisfying feel of pulling something off (much like a fighting game combo), can deliver high burst moments (which feels very rogue-like), but also has the similar benefit of energy in that you have a reason to use both kinds of attacks rather than always just spamming the same button over and over.

Rogues had (maybe still have) the added nuance that the combo points are on the target (not on the rogue), so you can’t just switch targets at a moment’s notice (which has interesting nuance for PvE and PvP). Sometimes it’s worth sticking to your current target until you can pull off a finisher. Other times, it’s worth abandoning those.

I have often said that I think rogues had the best designed resource system in WoW, but that we didn’t want to just copy that for every other class, or it might feel less special.

As with any WoW answer, my info might be very out of date. (Source)

    Overwatch League Update
ESPN has an article stating that Blizzard is struggling to sign franchises for the Overwatch league due to unfavorable terms. Blizzard released a statement to say that things are going well and someone may be trying to spread misinformation for bargaining reasons.

    • There is a $20 million franchise fee
    • Teams are not guaranteed revenue sharing until after 2021 and only if Blizzard meets certain criteria
    • If a team sells its spot to another party, the league would receive 25 percent of the proceeds

The rogue system was so good, that actually every class works with builders and spenders now. Im playing a ret paladin and he is more or less a rogue in plate armor.

The terms for Overwatch league are absurd, even for this industry's standards

    $20 million !
    That is crazy.

With CoD, Halo, Battlefield 1, I doubt the game will be still there in year 2021.

Typical Activision-Kotik being over greedy... $20m when LoL asks for $1.8m.. good job activision you screwed up the OW professional scene thinking you'd make some dough.

And without pro teams playing people will play OW less and less

Are you that desperate that you have to make a news post about Leeroy Jenkins? lol

20,000 buy in to own an Overwatch League Team would've been far too expensive. 20 mil? No wonder they haven't found any buyers. That's absolutely a foolish price point. So foolish that i wonder how they even came up with it.

for 20 mil, you can literally buy a small ownership in Blizzard stock

Overwatch is a joke to begin with.

Leeroy was fun the first time. The second time it was 100% obviously fake. Its not fun anymore...

"...teams are not guaranteed revenue sharing until after 2021..."

If Overwatch is still popular enough in 2021 to justify the terms, I'll eat multiple hats. And a few shoes.

Blizzard is a joke when it comes to esport. All they can do, is live on it's former glory remastering starcraft, cause sc2 is such an epic fail. What else do they got? Think Heartstone is doing ok, although not my cup of tea, and calling it esport is really stretching it.

Overwatch is a big thing, no matter what you say.

Being greedy with the terms are however a sad way to potentially cripple the best launch, which could give PR for a bigger franchise.

Just an opening position. Blizz doesn't actually expect anyone to pay $20 million.
