I am amused how much influence the right has on word definitions in english discussions.

Americans, in special, seem only to know two political parties. So they think everything is either "conservative" or "liberal", while those two words are not even the opposites of each other.

The opposite of liberal whould be totalitarian, and the opposite of conservative would be avantgarde.
