Nursery worker was slashed after being attacked by three women who shouted ‘Allah’, her colleague has said.

The woman was set upon as she travelled to work at a nursery in Wanstead, north east London.

The colleague, who did not want to be named, said the victim had ‘three Asian girls behind her chanting the Koran, ‘Allah”.

She added: ‘They pulled her to the ground, punched her, kicked her. One of them pulled out a knife and cut her arm from her wrist to her elbow.

No such confusion exists except in your head, Asian in this case probably means Pakistani and they are not in the middle east.

By who? From my experience of growing up in London "asian" = pakistani/bengali/indian. Anyone who looked like they were from the middle east would be an arab.

The reason why we refer to Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis as Asian is due to them being the people from Asia we had most contact with, as they were part of Empire.

Middle Eastern and Far Eastern/Oriental would be how we typically describe West and East Asians respectively, we don't have a term for central Asians that I can think of, other than central Asians of course.

I was as surprised. Was watching Road Police or something, and they said they'd be responding to a group of Asian men. They turn up to the scene, and those men are clearly from the Middle East.
