    One trick pony heroes.

Short summary, heroes used in lower rating that can carry games.

I tried everything but that i ended this season from high gold to now silver, i try to guide teams, i try to fill in yes i get tilted everyone does. I simply do not win majority of my games flat and simple and that has to change. Seeing team play does not happen in lower ranking you are without a doubt much like in LoL.

So far my list of that category of heroes are, falstad, valla, dehaka, li ming. I'm looking to build further on that category ideally add in a support, decent at Uther but Uther is hit and miss since your clutch ult can save heroes but it can only go so far and his low mana to heals ratio means in lower ranking people that can't stop poking make me as good as oom before any objective fighting takes place.

I'm determine to gain my ranks again and end back far into plat and higher and i'm convinced trying to steer my team makes my own plays slow as i'm typing and i'm not speaking about raging at people here literally at telling people to go for camps at certain times, retreat, gank etc. It works wonders if they listen but as most of you experience people simply do not listen most of the time and if they screw up they tend to rage at the person typing what brings their terrible, so it's a vicious circle as you end up getting more annoyed by people not listening also what leads in to you screwing up more.

Going to give it one more month a go if it doesn't work out, i'll simply swap to another moba for my fix with a larger player pool.

Split soak and wave clear, no doubt. At that level of play, where nobody understands how important xp is, having a character that can split soak/push effectively means you gain an experience advantage, and thus your team always plays from a favorable position.

Tried running with Xul a few times to achieve this, it sadly does not always work and due to it's unpopularity i have ran into multiple teams that ban my hero intentionally since it's "out the meta".

Do think wave clear is really important as too many teams keep engaging 9 or less vs 10. And so forcing your team to have that advantage often means you'll win the important first wave of team fights.

Despite the split soak and XP can be strong, it doesnt work on most cases cause your team cant handle 4v5 either way or for too long.

You probably want heroes than can 1v1 or 1v2 for a good long while so your bad team can catch up, or if they are bad you can destroy them with proper play/talents.

    Artanis/Sonya/Cassia, etc bruiser like heroes.

The problem HoTs has is that its simplicity makes it really frustrating, like you are losing but the idiot thinks because he did some objective like taking a camp, he did good, despite the fact that you just lost the game.

Thats why, only QM for skins for Hots, and Dota as my serious moba game.

Falstad and Dehaka don't have that problem in general.

I don't think one trick ponies are the answer, ideally you want a Hero that can do most stuff by himself so you can cover weaknesses of draft.

I honestly think Greymane is the best Hero overall right now. He clears waves fast, good at taking camps, very strong in team fights with two viable Heroics and fit pretty much every team. On top of that he can even stand his ground in solo lane and is viable on every map.

However with that being said, I think it is best to focus on role you feel most comfortable on.

    Azmodan, Falstad, Dehaka for outsoaking
Diablo, Artanis for punishing positioning mistakes
Any stealthy for punishing bad rotations

Solid all round: Greymane, Malf (nerf inc) and Arthas (anti AA) or Anub (Anti mage)

    Map specific -
Braxis: Have a solid solo laner like Sonya or Alarak
Battlefield: Fuck their rotations up with heroes like Zeratul, burn immortals with heroes like Q build Valla
Cursed: Run globals to stay in lane as late as possible, fuck rotations up with stealthies
    Dragon: Same as cursed
Shrines: Sylvanas, Rag and Sindragosa Arthas break this map, get them. Globals strong again and heroes that clear shines fast like Gul'dan or Karrygan
Sky Tempe: Globals again and heroes that fuck up rotations
Tomb: Nazeebo, Sylvanas and Rag, Gul'dan - heroes that clear quick, work with objective.
Towers: HEY! WHAT'S THAT?! Globals. Also heroes that can prolong alter captures, like Nazeebo, Chromie, Malf. Fuck rotations with stealthies.
Warhead: You already know, it's the same.
Hanamura: Specialists and push the fuck out of the lanes, get the forts. Make sure you have at least one bribe hero, get the healing camp on CD at the least.
Moderator for Heroes of the Storm
    Tier lists: Srey's | McIntyre's | Grubby's

Lastest hero: Malthael, The Aspect of Death
    Next hero: Unknown

I agree with Ryme. I'd add Gul'dan and Falstad as all around good heroes too. In additon to those (since you brought him up) Uther is definitly great, he's one of the best supports now and will only get in a better position once Malf loses Cleanse. I'd also add Sonya, she's the solo laner, she can make up for a bad tank to some extent, can clear waves, can get solo kills, is great at objective clearing on maps like HM or IS, exelent at merc clearing (can be important on Hanamura), she's just an all around great hero. Even though I'll be the first to admit that I probably have a bigger boner for her than the average person, she's still amazing, even after the WW nerf.

Xul, on the other hand, is a hero I wouldn't recommend for climbing. He's a great wave clearer and can apply pressure on lanes but that's really it. Unless the enemy team let's you go ham in the lane you won't be too effective, Zagara or Azmodan are probably the better choices for split pushing (imo).

I would add Thrall to the list. Self sufficient, Lane Bully, Team Fight Disrupting Ultimate (Sundering), Strong Single Target Damage.
    Post PTR Patch, that is.

Try Li Ming, she's not the perfect wave clearer (she's good, but there are better options), but she can do huge structure damage if left alone for a moment. And then she also does absolutely crazy damage in teamfights, especially if she can get resets. I've played her up to D1 and there were always people who were unable to dodge my orbs. Losing half HP from 1 max range orb must feel bad for them, and it opens up opportunities for your team. Gul'dan is much less reliable - his potential damage might be higher, but he doesn't function half as well on his own. Not even mentioning Kael in this regard.

Oh, just don't go teleport build.

This depend on skills though, Gul'dan is way better if the player is as good with Gul'dan as he/she is with Li Ming. Also Teleport build at the moment is the best build to go if you want to play in the higher rankings.

    On topic:
When I started this season I mainly played Dehaka, Nazeebo, Zeratul, Sonya and Valla. Why? Outside of Falstad and Gul'dan these hero's are almost always good and all have the potential to single handedly carry your team. I climbed from D5 to Grand Master #114 with almost 60% of my games played with these characters (sometimes you have to adjust a bit to your team ofcourse). My friend copied this tactic but switched Gul'dan and Falstad with Zeratul and Sonya and he climbed from Bronze 3 to Platinum 2 now after he had a bit of coaching from me and made sure he was completely comfortable with these heroes.

Gul'dan is way better if he has protection, no doubt about that. But protection isn't something you'll often get, especially in lower ranks.

Given up on this season personally, tried everything but i get paired with people who die endlessly, up to like 17 deaths where i'm sitting at 4.

I'll try more next season but currently see no way out of silver with at least -20 minus wins, there really isn't much you can if people repeat the same mistake.

Problem with li ming is, if your team sucks ass getting ganks is rare since the level difference hurts her badly in team fights, low hp and reliant on getting kills.

One step closer to looking for another moba where personal skill matters more. Tried a few games of LoL already bit slower and not used to the whole buying items bit.

I think solo queue system for HotS is silly. You can't carry games like Dota or League by yourself unless you play Greymane maybe..

I carry games with the heroes I mentioned, it's easy if you are playing under your skilllevel. If you are not playing under your skilllevel or close to it then I agree it is impossible to carry then.

If you know how to position correctly, Li-Ming absolutely destroys enemy teams. (And there is no way people can get an objective without eating a max damage orb).

    Nazeebo
    Falstad
    Greymane(especially greymane)
    Valla
    Dehaka the stalka
    Guldan

Just make sure if you want to climb, pick good champions and get good at them. I went from gold to diamond in TL this season, and one thing I noticed in our losses was that about 50% of them were just people playing poorly as underpowered champs.

Late game Murky on Sky Temple, Sky Temple tends to run long, so you can hit 20 and become a monster.

Q Valla on BoE. Her single dps can match 3 heroes combined on the immortal.

I used to 1 trick Zagara. Currently have a 79% winrate on her across 50+ games. She's such a beast of a hero if you learn how to play her effectively using her Creep tumors and Nydus Canal correctly and I can 1v1 basically any heroe in game past lvl 13 which causes teams to need to commit 2 heroes to a solo lane in the mid-end game push.

Also basically Double SOMETIMES Triple everyone elses Siege damage.
