Mage in Legion pretty... boring?

It's a class problem, unfortunately many classes have this problem, doesn't mean it's a legion problem.

On topic:
Ever since the instant pyro procs fire has been the more exciting spec. Frost is now more fun than it used to be, still not as cool as fire.
Arcane has been known for being one of the most boring spec in the entire game since it actually became a spec. (back in the days, it was just some talents that helped fire or frost, arcane was not a usable spec).

Arcane has been the best spec for mages at some point in every expansion, almost all of wrath, shard of woe/legendary staff cata, before reasonable crit breakpoints for fire in mop, wod is self explanatory, and now arcane may be with worst of the 3 specs but it's still playable.

Legion fire mage was my favourite class/spec to ever play. I would still play it but it was so bad dps wise in nighthold that I gave up on it and went back to my trusty old hunter.

I liked old fire's combustion+dot spreading. But new fire is really fun too. Most fun of the 3 currently. Super fast, super mobile with the belt, fun burst phases, fun proc play.

Arcane was fun until patch 7.1.5. It's really linear now like most of the classes in wow. Instead of builder spender, you have burn everything for 15 seconds and calm down for 1.5 minutes. There is still fun to be had with Orb and some AoE situationally, but the spec isn't as cool as when we had quickening and icy floes. I'll tip my hat that getting both legendary rings sort of feels like old quickening...almost.

Frost needs help. It doesn't have fun proc play. Super basic rotation. If you're playing it in pve content, I feel bad for you. It's kind of fun in pvp, but Orb builds are better than Glacial Spike builds so that's a bummer. I do like playing with glacial spike overall, and mixed feelings about ray of frost. But the whole spec is pretty bad.

I'd like to see shatter get reworked next xpac. If you can line up a bunch of spells and combo release them, even on bosses, that would be cool. But that might mess with the current niches as Arcane is the burst spec.

I think most if not all classes become fun with certain legendaries at certain moments. For example I hatted doing m+ as an arcane mage but after I got shoulders legendary I started to enjoy it. I think fires head legendary might also make it more fun. But again at certain fights only.

Frost starts to become fun with set bonus, the plain frost is pretty boring. Fire is way nicer without set bonusses, but the sets don't change a lot for you.

Arcane always was kinda weired for me, so never tried it really expect running around and spamming arcane explosion.

fire with belt bracer helm or gloves is fun coz it changes how you play. frost os boring after dbl il removal and tv fix, but is top st dps. havent really given arcane a proper go

Actually... Frost in 7.2.5 is Arcane from old times. There is no deep, complexity, or even advenced rotations. You just press the highlighted buttons and pray for procs.

Arcane is currently one of the best specs in the game. Great for raiding, godlike for m+, and crazy good for PvP.

If you are bored to play mage, you should try to learn how to play Arcane There is so much micro-management you have to do to perform well so you have to think all the time 10-20s ahead, and Arcane kit is designed for everything you can encounter. Good sutain aoe, burst aoe, one of the best st bursts in the game, and nice st sutain dps Overall it is really fun spec to play, as it is not 'press 1 button x times, and then press y button because it becomes active' spec like.

Maybe give some arguments? Why it is not. What is bad about Arcane? Is Arcane weak in M+, struggle in PvP, or it is not viable on raids (ehm. 6th class on logs ehm)? Give us something Currently, Frost is the weakest spec of all 3, as it is good only on 2 bosses in ToS, Sisters, and Goroth. Then in M+ Frost has nothing that would make him good there, weak AoE, bad Burst dmg, on bosses in M+ frost even can't beat Arcane mages, as the fights are too short. On top of that Frost is the most booring spec in the game atm, which is only good in PvP.

Still no arguments. Check logs, on all other bosses Frost is 2nd or 3rd spec.

I main Arcane at the moment and I find that quite fun. I don't have the legendary pants yet, but i dk have the shoulders and ring(shard). Feels good tearing up mythic+ , and it feels great for raiding.

Frost feels like it relies the most on procs, fire is nice but I feel it is lacking without legendaries.

Who cares of ToS HC. Actually that is true - Frost is the easiest spec and it performs well only for pure ST fights, if you have good procs of course

I just listed areas where Arcane and Fire (yeah i was talking about both specs), ale better than Frost. And frost is only better on 2... yes 2 fights in ToS M. You are already spending your morning by arguing with me instead of giving some arguments. You don't have anything better to do anyway so... please at least give me something to show that Frost is better than Arcane and Fire.
