Question Now that we are nearly 1 year in Legion, how do you look at the legiondaries?

The title is the question - Do you think they are a good or a bad idea, or were they simply not added in the best way?

To me the random drop Legendaries reminds me when you had BiS that were World Drop.

It's random, no strategy to get it (aside doing Emissaries, and bosses), lack of flavors and the promises that it would change how we play our class has not been met. Most of us go check the BiS for Legendaries and stick to it.

However, when you get one, you are like Wooootttt Legendaryyyyyyyy (insert Hearthstone voice).
And then to realize: Oh yeah, that one is not good at all according to the charts. Ah crap.

It was an hard promise by Blizz. Design wise it looks cool, but how to actually implement a Legendary drops that doesn't seem "free gift" or "hard-core grinding" is hard... Need to please everyone ...

I still like the ring/cloak legendary system better, but it should have been the current system now right from the start which is giving the first 2 quick and also not had people get utility legendary actually be unhappy

    Nice Idea
    Bad Implementation
    Good Fix

Also RNG and LegendaryPower aren't a big issue if those aspect are separated.

But mixing BiS Legendary with RNG was a huge mistake.

Because if we had legendary like Prydaz or Sephuz nobody would have bathe an eye about RNG si ce those 2 weren't and aren't a huge boots dps.
But since we have utility leggos plus mediocre leggos plus bis leggos all wrapped with rng and DR on Rng
    This has gotten insane.

Imho the best way were 1 only utility leggos with rng or 2 bis legendary gated behind class quest (vanilla epic quest) or Legion artifact challenge but less depending on gear and more on skill.

Well, first of all, I have learnt that the term, 'Legiondaries' is tiresome and a borish joke by people.

I have also learnt, that I like the non-BiS utility legendaries more than the BiS ones, just because they add a little extra to the tree. Then again, I can only speak for 6 of the classes (the ones I have at 110). I like that it isn't so limited, though but I am a bigger fan of the questline legendaries more.

And thirdly, I learnt that they aren't mandatory but they are good tools. Only considered mandatory if you are in a mythic raiding guild.

And last, I learnt that too many people have stupid ideas about legendaries, and they have a belief that it is better to reroll character, then to progress - just because their first legendary wasn't BiS.
Stuff can be fixed, just get enough glue or duct tape!

I always thought the idea was great, the initial implementation however was a disaster.

After months of fixes it's fine now, but there is still room for improvement. I would like a modified - further RNG reduced version for the next xpack.

I don't really care one way or the other. I think people have gotten crazy butthurt over legendaries for no reason at all. If you think about it as "anything less than BiS is trash and awful and should be deleted" then yeah, getting a sub-optimal legendary is frustrating. I don't look at it like that. I look at it as an item with an extremely high ilvl (even if the unique effect sucks, it's still a 970 piece with 970 stats) that happens to have an effect that is beneficial on some level. It's not like D3 where your entire effectiveness is tied to specific legendaries for each build. Legion legendaries for the most part simply aren't that far apart in power.

The idiots that think that they need to reroll because they got a couple lower-tier legs are just the funniest people.

I wouldn't be bombarding the forums if they kept it as it is for another expansion but I'd much prefer a grind with multiple potential routes to the same goal and a cap on weekly progress to stop people no-lifing it in a preposterously short timeframe.

I hated it at 1st... It took so long to get that first legendary for some people back at the start of Legion. With the changes they've made to drop chances and the ability to somewhat target them via relinquished tokens (obviously not the new 1s from 7.2)) I like the system.

I just wish they'd bothered to make new appearances or at least unique color variations of older appearances for these legendary items.. I'd also have liked it if there was a bit more lore behind them in game beyond a line of yellow text on the item... Maybe something similiar to the books at your class hall that give the lore and story behind your artifacts.

It might also have been cool if instead of just having legendaries drop you actually just got an item that started you on a quest line / scenario to get the completed legendary... Perhaps something along the lines of the quests / scenarios that you have for artifacts. But I suppose this isn't realistic just because there are just so many legendaries and the development time required would be crazy.

Didn't like the idea. Don't like the implementation.

Not just because of the RNG aspect of it, but because they can't balance them. If they were simple stat-boosts, they could, but their effects made them too unpredictable.

The fact that they know that crazy shit would happen if they allowed players to use three or more of them at the same time is proof enough that the whole idea isn't solid to begin with.

I don't like the lack of lore behind them or the reused skins either.

In my opinion this system ruined the "legendary item Status".
Remember when you saw a guy in TBC with Warglaives, or even a guy with Thunderfury in Vanilla? (no, this is not about how everything was better back then xD)

You were like "woahw this guy must be sick", legendary items were big prestige. Now days you don't even look on legendarys any more as you know probably every crapy alt has atleast 2 of em, so might aswell just make it epic with a special effect (like CoS melee attack ring for example), but they don't deserv the legendary Status in my opinion.

The whole idea is conceptually stupid. Getting randomly a legendary from a random chest or boss ?
It was retarded one year ago, it's still retarded today.
It also participate to the even more retarded power inflation which has been ridiculous for four expansions now, but only seem to become worse each time.

The implementation was terrible initially, it's pretty bad today but fixed the worst offending idiocy. But all that is on top of the, again, conceptually stupid idea.

    So yeah, still pure shit.

I'll take the MoP system, thanks. It should just be 100% reserved for people raiding properly, give people an incentive to pug Normal rather than getting a legendary from tourist mode.

Feels kinda sucky to have a leggo drop, only to have your heart sink in an instant because it's a shit leggo that you won't even equip. One of the Legion systems I hope they'll not keep for future expansions, for sure.

    Retarded end to end.
Firstly, full casino. You are lucky or not. You can get a string of ones that only provide you with stat budget or roll the BiS on the first one.
Secondly, the good ones change too much for something so rare.

Good idea in D3, retarded AF in WoW.

I agree with these posts. I would like a little less randomness and more ability to work towards them and I'd appreciate the whole collection being fleshed out a bit. They are pretty boring in both appearance and lore. Legendaries should actually be "legendary".

With AK 40 available to send to your alts for the "catch up" it actually is faster for a more casual player to just reroll the same class than continue progressing if you get a shit legendary. While yes, if you clear all content you obtain a legendary much quicker...not everyone has the time to do numerous M+'s....M0s, all available LFRs plus normal, heroic and mythic of everything as well.

OT, 100% hate. Hated the idea of rng drops a year ago and still hate it. If utility and spec specific weren't on the same drop rate I would probably hate it less but I still wouldn't be a fan. The fact we're a year in and I don't have most of my classes legendaries is pretty shit. So when the inevitable switch in spec for each tier comes I become less excited to continue playing. I didn't have the time I put into the game for the first 9 months but did anyways....I can't keep putting things off so I can get legendaries for a new spec. So my enjoyment in wow is incredibly low due to this system. For those saying that the damage they give doesn't matter must only raid heroic at best....because the damage boost from even one bis legendary compared to two utility/shit ones is actually pretty substantial and easily noticed for mythic raiders.

But then again, you could as well obtain a 2nd legendary just three hours later. As well, you would slow down yourself by having to obtain equipment once more. As well as professions if you wish. As well as progression if you aim to raid.

You don't always have to massively farm for a legendary. And even if you reroll, there is no insurance that you'll even get a new legendary faster than if you didn't reroll.

Like the idea but the RNG is total crap. I'd rather we receive a legendary item (with the same rarity of current legendaries) and have it forged into a chosen legendary.

very fun addition to game - anyone who is semi serious about game is already collecting os legendaries for months now - only ones crying are people who play 15 alts on hardcore level and feel need to max out them all - and those are meaningless and nobody cares about them.
