And so you admit, the ACA did nothing to address the real issue with health care in the US. Costs. It is a bit like treating a symptom, rather than the root cause of a disease.
Uh wut? Where did I "admit" to that ridiculous proposition?

There are many issues with health care. There is no "real issue", as you stated, prior to 2009. Discrimination based on preexisting conditions was a huge issue. Bankruptcy from medical bills was a huge issue. Lifetime caps was a huge issue. A lot of these have been fixed.

Do you know what the bill does? Are you really going to claim that it didn't provide assistance to tens of millions of Americans?
Expansion of medicaid? LOL my mother has trouble finding doctors because none of them will mess with medicaid. To everyone else who doesn't qualify it's fucking expensive as shit, even if you had free health insurance poor people could not afford the premiums. It's really funny it's like you really don't have a clue.

[QUOTE=Ghostpanther;46558861]I agree with this. The health care reform the Republicans are trying to get passed does not address the biggest problem with health care in the US. Raising costs. Obamacare did not ether. Which is why it sucks too. Medical care costs in this country is like a mad bull running loose. It needs to be lassoed and stopped and brought under control, by force.

At a large cost to tens of millions of other Americans. Raising premiums, with high deductibles. Some are so expensive, people rather pay the tax penalty than buy the insurance. It is not the answer.
Yeah, that's what I I thought and still think ACA is a joke, instead of addressing why healthcare is so damn expensive they forced us to buy shit insurance that have outrageous premiums.

If Car insurance had $30,000 deductible on a $20,000 car, this would be the equivalent of the ACA.

    There is this https://www.forbes.com/sites/theapot.../#3a769f815be7

I am not saying there are no good points to the ACA. But it does nothing to address the real issue with health care costs. Some ( tens of millions ) are paying for those benefits it does provide. And at rates many have found not to be affordable. The ACA is collapsing on it's own weight. At the cost of a national deficit which doubled under Obama. So how do you fix it without bale out funds, which will contribute even more to the national deficit?

I don't think you understand the difference between healthcare and insurance.

    1) Anectodal evidence don't change the larger facts.

    2) Those plans got phased out because if you got really sick you were SOL.

    3) If you friend is as you put "poor as shit" he would be getting basically free healthcare (credit, subsidies or expanded medicaid) under the ACA unless you are making shit up.

Did you see lots of people dying before ACA because of lack of healthcare? No, you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about kid.

Sorry that you're mother is having trouble finding doctors who accept medicaid. Perhaps you should offer assistance, since there are literally tens of thousands of practices across the country that accept medicaid. Participation rate is around 70%.

Yeah, that's what I I thought and still think ACA is a joke, instead of addressing why healthcare is so damn expensive they forced us to buy shit insurance that have outrageous premiums.
I noticed that you didn't address any other other ways that the ACA has provided assistance to tens of millions of Americans. Medical loss ratio 80/20 rule. Children on parents health insurance until age 26. Minimum levels of coverage. No lifetime caps. Preexisting coverage.

Why is it so hard to say "The ACA did a lot of great things, and helped millions of people, but it's far from perfect, and we need to continue to find better solutions."

That statement is way too "woke" "independent" for him.
