    Disc for the next exp.

Do you still like the whole heal while dps thing with disc in legion ? Or do you wish to return in a more shield based orientation in the next exp ?
I for one would love , even if it's a spam feast, the return of the absorb disc. Or a buffing spe would be glorious , like a cleric in other Rpg , maybe handle a new resource type and can buff people the better u handle this resource.

I would too. But they probably won't do it. :-/

I used to love being a bubble Disco Priest (I enjoyed it the most in WoTLK and Cataclysm), but they've been pushing Disco more and more towards the damage-while-you-heal specialisation and they're very happy about it and feel like it distinguishes the specialisation more from Holy compared to what it used to be.

I guess it's kind of a love it or hate it thing. At the end of the day, it's the developers vision that we have to respect... if they enjoy the spec (I assume some of them play it in-game) then they'll keep it the way it is, assuming there isn't a huge outcry/complaining from the player-base. Thus I'm pretty sure it's here to stay the way it currently is for a while...

A full absorb healer will never return. They just cannot balance it properly due to the basic nature of absorbs.

I mained disc from Cata to beginning of this exp... I truly HATE the state disc is in atm (might work for others, but I hate it)... I'm hoping for a full revamp of the class into something much better (mix of this current stuff and MoP), else I'll stick to my warrior! :/

MoP atonement (1:1c damage:healing ratio) minus divine aegis + Legion pw:r for aoe atonement (remove atonement buff from plea/pw:s) + WoD pw:s with Legion Aegis of Wrath mechanics (fading absorb to prevent blanket preshielding but allow reactive shielding) + MoP 90-row aoe minus divine aegis. Not so sure about Cata archangel - is cool but not really necessary either.

Legion is the first time I've enjoyed Disc, so, I sure hope they keep the current paradigm.

I don't like the current Discipline playstyle, but it's the closest Blizzard ever gotten to a balanced playstyle that is different from most other healing playstyles. Absorbs were impossible to balance.

Having Discipline as a buffer might be nice, but doesn't fit the Holy Trinity so it can't be good in WoW.

    tank / healer / dps

A "support" doesn't fit with that.

I thought it was perfect in MOP. Then they went and fucked it all up over the last 2 xpacs, more so this one. The fact that you have to manage Atonement on people is BS. I would however love a Buff/ Support only spec or class as well.

Isn't this a common phrase anymore?

The Holy Trinity means have your encounters be balanced about the presence of three roles: Tank, Healer and DPS. WoW strongly adheres to this design philosophy, which makes it almost impossible to have characters that fit other roles, such as (non-healing) support or crowd-control. All encounters are created with the assumption that a group tackling them will have a certain number of tank(s), healer(s) and DPS players and hard or impossible to overcome if you deviate from that.

On top of this, the WoW community has always been very focused on numbers and min-maxing (DPS meters, effective health, healing meters, etc.) whereas roles like (non-healing) support or crowd-control don't lend themselves easily to number-crunching. If these roles were implemented, you'd get in endless debates with people who'd either argue that they're useless and don't contribute anything (just like they did with Discipline Priests before absorbs were measurable) or how "the best crowd control is killing a mob."

I also think they'd be quite tedious to play without fundamentally changing the way WoW works.

It would also be reasonable hard to implement and balance. Group sizes being what they are, in a five-man group, you'd either need to be able to keep five people alive with your buffs (to replace a healer), increase the damage of the other members of the group enough to justify missing out on one DPS or mitigate enough damage to replace a tank (while the rest of the group needs to use all their crowd-control tools as well). Doing this would require completely changing the encounter design we see today so that a group can have a more dynamic composition.

Love it right now, some little changes are required (also more choiche on some talents)

I definitively enjoyed my disc priest more before Legion, and I also would love to return to the shielding playstyle. :/

In the over 10 years of playing Wow I have never healed raids before until this version of Disc. My priest is now my main for the first time ever and I absolutely love the Disc play style. Could it use some changes here and there? Yes, but its really fun to play.

Love this playstyle, found the shielding version boring as fuck and it was stupid how well it'd do with the boring playstyle (I would never touch disc during it because of how much I hated it).

I will remain a disc priest for as long as this playstyle stays in tact.

A healer that relies heavily in absorbs is impossible to balance. Back in WoD about 70% of the total healing of a disc priest was absorbs. That *had* to be changed.
Personally I'm very happy with the current state of the spec.

I wouldn't necessarily go straight to "love" for the current version, but I've enjoyed every iteration of disc since I started playing it almost a decade(!) ago. This is one of the most balanced versions they've had in a very long time, and it's definitely a different, refreshing playstyle. MoP was probably my favorite, with frequent shields in several flavors and 80+ yard range atonement heals as a really solid filler, but it was probably my favorite because it was so strong. Cata was balanced before the Rapture change caused mana regen to scale uncontrollably by the end of the expansion, but it wasn't particularly creative or unique mechanics-wise. I think this is a good track for disc for the next couple expacs while they continue to work out the mechanics and identity of the spec. I definitely wouldn't want to retread where we've already been.

Absorbs are either OP or useless, you pretty much can't balance it as a class main mecanic.
