Why is my simmed stat priority so much different than the one on icy veins? (Aff)

Simcraft is telling me crit > haste > int > versa > mastery.

Icy says mastery haste crit versa int. Why is this?

Intellect: Increases spell power and overall damage output.
Haste: Decreases the period between DOT ticks, decreases our channel time and cast time, and decreases our GCD.
Mastery: Increases the damage done by Corruption, Unstable Affliction, Agony and Siphon Life.
Critical Strike: Gives our abilities the chance to deal double damage. This is amplified by Perdition.
Versatility: Increases our damage and healing by a flat %, and decreases our damage taken by a flat %.

    General Purpose Stat Weights:
    Mastery: 1.5
    Haste: 1.5
    Crit: 1.3
    Vers: 1.05
    Int: 1.0
    SP: 0.95
    Affliction stats are fluid.

Affliction is an extremely multi-faceted spec, and your stats will change in value based on the type of content you're running, and the talents you pick. It's important to understand WHY and WHEN a stat is good for affliction.

Haste makes everything but cooldowns faster. It's the best source of throughput for seed of corruption spamming. It makes your agonies ramp up faster when target swapping regularly. It's also good for increasing your ST burst by making your UAs faster. This makes haste an ideal stat for fights with lots of target swapping or AoE, or mythic+ in general.
Mastery makes your DoTs hit like a truck. Plain and simple. Fights where an unusually large portion of your DPS is Agony/Corruption/Siphon Life/Unstable Affliction, mastery is going to reign king. Think fights like Demonic Inquisition and Desolate Host, where over 90% of your dps can be from DoTs.
Crit gives you big numbers more often. It's the primary method of scaling Soul Flame damage. Affliction has a crit steroid in the form of an artifact trait, Perdition. With 3 relics, you can get up to 46% critical strike damage during Reap Souls.
Versatility is sort of the red-headed stepchild of WoW. If your spec like versatility, it usually means something is very wrong with it's design.

    So, the general footnotes:

Single Target and AoE w/ Sow the Seeds: Haste
    Cleave: Mastery
Lots of Soul Flame damage (think Skorpyron): Crit

    Pawn & Simming your character
For information on how to Sim your own character click here and follow each step! Pawn is a useful tool you can use in game to help you decide on gear upgrades. It should not be used as gospel and when two pieces of gear are very similar in terms of "score" you should always sim them against each other. Follow the instructions here to learn more about easily simming Relics that aren't equipped.

Because preset stat weights entirely do not and have never been legitimate. Its simply not how gearing works and it never has been.

Your personal stat weights depend on your current gear, legendaries, relics, fight type and so on.

You are mastery heavy for 7.2.5 (though it all depends on what gear you have) hence it will more than likely have a lower stat weight. However, if you used the standalone simcraft I would also suggest you try Raidbots to see what that says as yes your priority list is rather weird (possible but weird) therefore it would be good to get another result. If that disagrees with your first outcome then you need to update Simcraft and/or reset the settings.

Cos the Icy Veins guide is just a general rule of thumb.

Stat weights can get altered a LOT by things like legendaries, trinkets, the particular boss fight, how much or how little you'd got of a particular stat already (e.g. if you got tons of mastery but very little crit or haste...or vice versa) and artifact relics (for example, in NH I had two Perdition relics, which made crit more valuable)

It's really just a rough guide for players who aren't minmaxing or using sims, a bit like the general rule of thumb about gear which was "if it;s got mastery and is highler ilevel then it's an upgrade"
