China mall introduces 'husband storage' pods for shopping wives

    http://www.bbc.com/news/blogs-news-f...alflow_twitter

A Chinese mall has introduced "husband storage" facilities for wives to leave their spouse while they shop, it's reported.
According to The Paper, the Global Harbour mall in Shanghai has erected a number of glass pods for wives to leave any disgruntled husbands that don't want to be dragged around the shops.
Inside each individual pod is a chair, monitor, computer and gamepad, and men can sit and play retro 1990s games. Currently, the service is free, but staff told the newspaper that in future months, users will be able to scan a QR code and pay a small sum for the service using their mobile phones.
A few men that tried out the pods told The Paper that they thought they were a novel idea.
Mr Yang said he thinks the pods are "Really great. I've just played Tekken 3 and felt like I was back at school!"
Another man, Mr Wu, agreed, but said that that he thought there were areas for improvement. "There's no ventilation or air conditioning, I sat playing for five minutes and was drenched in sweat."
    Incentive to go shopping
The pods have been the source of much humour on Chinese social media, and have sparked debate about whether they could be rolled out even wider.
One user approves the decision, saying that the pods "give these men an incentive to go shopping, and to pick up the bill" for their wives shopping.
But others disagree. "If my husband just wants to go out and play games, what's the point of bringing him out?"
I just don't really get the point here. Isn't the whole point of wives bringing the husbando is to ask him if she looks fat or to beg for more money to buy those shoes? If he is in the pod there is no point in him even leaving the house, because he could play whatever he wants in the privacy of his house. I guess China is following Japan with its weird ideas.

The guy has to come along because he needs to drive the car.

We already have those, they're called "wait areas" and they are already filled with husbands who are waiting for their wives to come back from whatever store they just HAD to go to.

Why is adding some vidya to that weird/bad?

It's my lot in life to push the shopping cart like a draft animal.

We have those already in the form of bars, strip clubs, etc.

"If my husband just wants to go out and play games, what's the point of bringing him out?"
THERE IS NONE. Leave him home, and he'll likely be much happier.

Give it some air conditioning, a pee chute and beer on tap, and some privacy shades and porn and it sounds awesome.

I thought the title said mail & shipping when I clicked on it, was expecting a tube you put your wife in to mail her somewhere.
    Her hall is called Eljudnir,

    her slave is Lazy,

Do they have ones for kids and young adults too? I remember being dragged around mall after mall by my mother in my youth. Would have been nice to have something fun to do...

I wouldn't go in the first place. If she can't drive, give her bus fare. I don't do "shopping" for anyone.

When I first read it I thought it meant like putting him in storage in a Han Solo freezing thing.

10/10 would play tekken, rather than standing around pretending to have opinions on clothing.

The Simpsons already had a place for women to leave their husbands in the mall.

I've got news for you. Its 2017... a woman needing man's validation of what looks good or what doesn't... or having to beg for money from her spouse... is a weird idea.

Perhaps, maybe (I know its a long shot) she brings her husband to the mall because she wants to spend time with him. Woah! Mind = BLOWN!

I have a sneaking suspicion you're not married. Girlfriend?

But you aren't spending time with your husband if he is sitting in a "storage pod". And don't try to brush off the idea that women don't do this... lol..

Are you drinking the "all races are the same" kool-aid or something?

East Asians have fewer apocrine sweat glands compared to people of other descent, and the lack of these glands make East Asians less prone to body odor. The reduction in body odor and sweating may be due to adaptation to colder climates by their ancient East Asian ancestors. The ABCC11 gene is known to determine axillary body odor, but also the type of earwax. Most of the world's population secrete the wet-type earwax, however, East Asians are genetically predisposed for the allele that codes the dry-type earwax, associated with a reduction in axillary body odor. The loss of a functional ABCC11 gene is caused by a 538G>A single-nucleotide polymorphism, resulting in a loss of body odor in people who are specifically homozygous for it. The non-functional ABCC11 allele is predominant amongst East Asians (80–95%), but very low in other ancestral groups (0–3%). It affects apocrine sweat glands by reducing secretion of odorous molecules and its precursors. It is also associated with a strongly reduced/atrophic size of apocrine sweat glands and a decreased protein (such as ASOB2) concentration in axillary sweat.
The lack of ABCC11 function results in a decrease of the odorant compounds 3M2H, HMHA, and 3M3SH via a strongly reduced secretion of the precursor amino-acid conjugates 3M2H–Gln, HMHA–Gln, and Cys–Gly–(S) 3M3SH. It also results in a decrease of the odoriferous steroids androstenone and androstenol, possibly due to the reduced levels and secretion of DHEAS and DHEA (possibly bacterial substrates for odoriferous steroids).
If you're going Asia, especially East Asia, you want to bring your own deodorant.
