So you guys wont make legacy servers for people who want to play old expansions the way they once were. You also want to shut down private servers for those trying to appease to the niche market. Why don't you come up with an authentication method like Facebook. Most websites have an option to, rather than create an account, log in via your Facebook account. Why not make an authentication method like this that serious private servers who don't want to get shutdown can use. Force the user to authenticate via battle.net account and if they have a subscription to wow they are allowed to authenticate. If not then they can't log in. Private servers get to do their private server things and blizzard can collect money from people playing their games. Win win. I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't mind paying the $15 to get to play the game they want and not worry about cease and desist shutting them down. Why not have someone else do the work of running a server or two for you and collect subscription profit?
