    Freedom of speech is protection from the government. Freedom of speech does not force anyone else to put up with this shit.

    Then his statement is false as well and you fail to see the point.

    While it may be the right thing to do given the circumstances, is it appropriate to shoo business away based on political stances? Is it in some extreme instances such as this one?

    Should private companies remain neutral on cases like these? Especially considering how much power/control GoDaddy has over an enormous number of websites. Doesn't that open a precedent to censorship, or is this form of policing required in cases that warrant it?
    It is their service, and they have the right to dictate what is presented via it.
    Freedom of speech doesn't mean someone has to distribute your messages.
    Freedom of speech is allowing you to voice your negative opinion of the government without being arrested.
    It is someone else's choice to give you a platform or not.

    When did I bring freedom of speech into the conversation? Oh that's right: I never did. You did.

    I had only heard of this site due to this thread. Went on it for a few minutes, I am very glad it has been shut down. Spewing out so much shite. The world is better without it.

    You brought up censorship, which is contrary to freedom of speech when described as freedom to say what you want.
    It is their right to shoo away a view for whatever reason, because it is their service.

    Promotes, encourages or engages in terrorism, violence against people, animals, or property;
    Promotes, encourages or engages in any spam or other unsolicited bulk email, or computer or network hacking or cracking;
    Violates the Ryan Haight Online Pharmacy Consumer Protection Act of 2008 or similar legislation, or promotes, encourages or engages in the sale or distribution of prescription medication without a valid prescription;
    Infringes on the intellectual property rights of another User or any other person or entity;

    Contains false or deceptive language, or unsubstantiated or comparative claims, regarding GoDaddy or GoDaddy’s Services.

    GoDaddy may remove any item of User Content (whether posted to a website hosted by GoDaddy or posted to this Site) and/or terminate a User’s access to this Site or the Services found at this Site for posting or publishing any material in violation of this Agreement, or for otherwise violating this Agreement (as determined by GoDaddy in its sole and absolute discretion), at any time and without prior notice.

    I did not see the content, but I suspect it is likely to have at the very least violated the underlined term.
    Can anyone who saw it comment on that ?
    So there can be a lot more reasons simply beyond it being an undesirable political view.

    Discord just announced they were going to shut down all the Nazi discords.

    A few of the games I play with a chat feature have a lot of Nazi stuff in them, not discord but the actual game. This goes back to xbox live.

    It's a good thing, but dangerous. This treads dangerously close to vigilante justice. People tend to agree with it as long as it's on their side. But something like this can easily change.

    Sensibly that should be the case, but legally it isn't as simple as that unfortunately.
    Though the terms do cover enough options.

    That's your way of seeing it. Your words, not mine. Freedom of speech means that governing bodies can't initiate legal action against you or silence you for an opinion you hold/express. It has nothing to do with censorship perpetrated by a private company. Nothing at all.

    So no, I didn't bring freedom of speech in the equation. You did. Censorship doesn't necessarily bring FoS with it when discussed.

    Did you even read the text of the Equal Protection Clause? It is literally there to ensure that all people are treated equal under the law. Protected classes are simply groups of people who, historically, are prone to discrimination and have laws protecting them. They don't get more rights than other people, laws are written to ensure they have the same rights as everyone else.

    They're there to make sure you can't just refuse service to a person for being black, or gay. If there was mass-discrimination on another group, they too would become a protected class.

    The name of the clause is the dead give away "Equal Protection". It's not there to give certain groups more rights, it's to ensure they have the same rights as the majority.

    It took Charlottesville and a lot of threads about Charlottesville to find out that all of those alt-reicht posters who "aren't nazis" sure have no problem defending nazis.

    The OP didn't really get at the whole story, which was that GoDaddy was at first defending their right to free speech...

    But then this site started disparaging the girl that got run over and killed at the rally.

    Of course, after they were shut down, the neo nazis claimed they were hacked and someone put that piece hating on the girl up.

    Which doesn't explain why the site owners left the article up nor why it came from one of their content updater's IP's... but well, you get the picture.

    Hmmm who are the the bigger cowards, Neo Nazis or Corporate America? Looks like the NEo NAzis faceplanted and saved GoDaddy from the distinction.
