The only thing SB needs now is some beat tribe dailies for me to do and a new Deep Dungeon because as of right now, I'm just not interested in playing for more than 1-1.5 hours (or however long it takes to do Trials, Leveling, 50/60 and Expert Roulette) on the days I do decide to play because I just want to be leveling right now and I will not just grind FATEs...not again...after so many months doing it in 2.0 and again and again and again throughout the game for Relics, Animas, Events, etc... I'm just done with FATE's for the most part.
The only reason I'm even playing more than that is because I neglected my crafters/gatherers forever and didn't give my retainers proper attention during HW. I basically do my raid days since I need genji sword to get bis and grind out crafting/gathering any other time. It's a huge time and gil investment, though =(.

The only bad thing about FFXIV is that it is a bit TOO predictable so it become boring. Kinda the opposite of WoW with its heavy RNG so that everything feels hopeless.

FFXIV is still a superior MMORPG to WoW despite its predictability.

You're not done with FATEs until you have your glowing derpmobile from Yo-Kai...

Yeah, I know this will come as a surprise given how much I've expressed my infatuation and deep love for FATE's but even so...I'm not even remotely interested in grinding FATE's for a bunch of ridiculous or ugly weapons and mounts I'll never use. Even with all the hype and weapons and mounts I've seen, and PF groups for it I haven't cared about doing it at all...not even once.

I even stopped chasing the Foxy Lady FATE. I thought I'd love to have the fox ears, but my character is a Miqo'te with white hair and I tried them on and it looks ridiculous. I use the Ultima Horns now =)

Seems there are two versions of the game, like WoW (NA and PAL). Are they region locked? As in if I am from Asia, I have to get the PAL version? Or can I choose any version?

Upon buying the game you can play it in any region. You can choose the NA/EU/JP data centres. Just be warned your latency will differ depending on your location.

I've tried FFXIV for a month or so now and it definately feels weird when you're used to how wow plays. Gameplay with the 2s GCD is kinda slow, the english translation is sometimes odd and the UI is kinda meh, even if you customize it so i really miss addons to make it look how i want it to look. And there's alot of loading screens everywhere, or a black screen. Even just moving from one side of limsa lominsa to aftcaste which is the same city has that loading screen. Other than that there's a bunch of cool stuff like the casino and class systems with different jobs and the profession system seems way more enganging than what wow offers. And the story is amazing with loads of cutscenes and likeable characters. So for me, even with some of its flaws, FFXIV trumps wow right now, mostly because im tired of the constant grind that wow has become now, you never feel like your character is in a good place, since there's always that titanforged or whateverforged that can drop on your next run.

Guys, I'm really trying to work up the courage to try FFXIV. I hate WoW in its current state. Mostly I hate Blizzard changing things I love and ignoring things that need to be addressed. So yes, I hate WoW. But I'm heavily invested. I have ALL your dream mounts, including the Blackfang Widow and my transmogs are 100% beautiful & perfect.

Everyone is going to say to me, just TRY FFXIV and then you'll know if you'll like it. But I'm SO hesitant. I'm walking away from A LOT in WoW. But I'm also worried about how FFXIV looks. I think the toons look stupid. I just went through 50 pages of different FF mogs and I didn't like any of them. With all the "epic customization" in FF how is it possible that WoW gear looks so much better? Tell me I'm missing something?

Overall, just lookin for some encouragement to take the plunge. WoW feels like a casino that is manipulating me and devs seem so lazy and disinterested imo. It's like a bad relationship that I need to get out of, but can't quite build up the courage.

You can play via free trial up to level 35 at no cost other than your time. If you want to get a better idea of what all different armors can look like, you're better off running around in the towns in game and seeing lots more people, because not everyone posts screenshots of their glamours online.

If you are that fed up with WoW, then you shouldn't need anyone's encouragement to play...well, anything else, really. Take it from the likes of me, with 20k+ achieves, right at 300 mounts, 80ish exalted reps, etc. (I assume the link in my sig for my WoW profile/armory still works). I had all sorts of shit in WoW. Left it behind and haven't missed any of it. There's plenty of such things to find in this game. If another game came along and I found myself having more fun with it than I do this game, guess what? I let my inner circle in game know I'm gonna go play something else...and there's a fair chance some may join me.

Ok I did it! I downloaded the trial and it's installing now. I feel like I'm going to an AA meeting or something. Hi, I'm Ben and I'm a WoW addict, haha

As far as the glamour system goes, once you're at high level, there's a ton of variety. Everyone has their own tastes, so to each their own, but the game has a lot of wiggle room for cosplays and things like that. I used to have a monk that I kept dressed like Fire Fist Ace, I currently have all my crafter glamours set up to look like Super Mario. I've got a friend with a solid link cosplay and some others.

here's another source with lots of screens of glamours, if you want to see if there's anything you don't think is ugly:

Yeah, I've decided to completely run with the Nintendo thing, I did luigi for gatherers, gonna use link for either bard or pld, and I saw a bowser that I might try to work with for monk. If I can find the right healer dresses, I will totally do a cross dressing princess peach for it.

I've seen a Mario setup, and to step out of the Nintendo-sphere, I've seen Zangief from Street Fighter and Wonder Woman, to name some examples of the oodles of "cosplay glamours" that are out there. While some may call such things unoriginal, I think it's pretty neat to see what people pull off given that they don't have infinite options in the game compared RL.

Heck, I have a femroe appearance saved that pretty much screams She-Hulk.

I recently quit WoW mostly because I felt it didn’t require anymore thought. I started playing towards the end of BC. I could raid, run a dungeon, or quest and do homework or some other mundane task at the same time. So, like others I just felt like the game was exhausted to me, the community just keeps getting worse (just my opinion). I leveled every class to 110 and still felt dead inside for the game.

I played FFXIV: ARR from launch and It reminded me why I loved playing FFXI from launch until 2008. The game is beautiful, it’s hard, and the overall community is so welcoming and helpful its weird. I quit playing right around when Heavensword came out due to school, and rarely played Wow around that time, but when I came back recently to FFXIV I mentioned in general chat that I’m back after X amount of time and someone invited me to their guild, gave me 400k gil and offered me help anytime they were on. I have NEVER seen that (or done that) for anyone on WoW. I ran a duty that I knew nothing about on my White Mage first day back and made the comment that I didn’t know what was going on because I haven’t played in so long and everyone offered help and was patient if there were any deaths. More importantly, the game looks beautiful on my 27” iMac with Retina display! I also really love the character customization. I also don’t feel rushed to do content as I did in WoW.

Will I go back to WoW? Maybe one day, we all have that ex we would get back with if the circumstances were right. After Blizzcon and seeing what we know of the next expansion so far, I’m glad I unsubbed. I’ll still follow the game to see what’s up, that’s what most people do with their ex’s anyway lol.

Only thing I hate? Since my main is a WHM, its sooooo hard to solo stuff, unless I'm doing something wrong

Do you have your chocobo set to dps? I know my friend leveled as WHM and until she had her chocobo and got it to dps for her it was a chore. After that she had a breeze leveling. Duties are still a bit challenging but other than that she didn't have any issues at all.

WoW armor... look... better? Does not compute. >_o

Do you have links to screenshots of your characters? Curious what look you've gone for on them.

I played WoW for almost 10 years uninterrupted. Now I just play a month or two of an expansion to briefly see the story and otherwise play FFXIV here. I also broke out of the pet/mount collecting mentality since I left WoW, so I don't feel like I NEEEEED all the things anymore.

But characters needing to look "just right" I can certainly identify with, so I'm curious what your alt army is looking like right now. Gimme dem links!
