I think @chaud once tried to explain that. I can't recall the answer but sounds like a good idea but would push the link post cap to 15-20 then.

FOMO: "Fear Of Missing Out", also commonly known as people with a mental issue of managing time and activities, many expecting others to fit into their schedule so they don't miss out on things to come. If FOMO becomes a problem for you, do seek help, it can be a very unhealthy lifestyle..

Maybe they could add a captcha or other anti-bot test in order start a new topic.
Sadly wouldn't be the best call. Though, at a certain amount, you are able to apply to become a moderator if you have enough activity within one sub-forum.

Again, I would suggest you to take this to the Suggestions and Feedback section.

Wowhead has gamified the hunt on spam threads: you get site reputation for reports that are accepted, and when a thread gets a certain number of reports as Spam/Advertisement, it is automatically hidden until it gets evaluated by a mod.
But your duty to Azeroth is not yet complete. More is demanded of you... a price the living cannot pay.
I mean some of those spams are at least helpful, I was looking for a Black Magic specialist for years now.

What?
the threads are made, and after abit when a mod gets on they are removed
what the fuck are you complaining about
yes you are on the forums when THE LEAST mods are on and when THE MOST "adverts" are on, just report them then ignore them, it has allways been like this, not much they can
Well.
Yes, the spam threads are annoying.
The mods are aware and they are doing everything they can. They are doing this for free and on their own time, too, which is pretty important.
The suggestions of technical measures are a bit of an old story. Sure, post them in the suggestions area, but please realize that what you see is already a tip of an iceberg, a lot of the spam is getting stopped before you see it. The vast majority of suggested measures are either already implemented (and what you see is what gets *past* them) or are infeasible to implement or won't really stop much / have big drawbacks which would the life of legit posters worse in other ways. Still, if you think you have something to offer, post in the suggestions. Who knows, maybe you really have something that would help.
But still, the spam threads are annoying. Damn annoying.

What's even worse is that some of their threads have like 50 views. What sort of ppl even looks at those kind of threads?
