i didnt (and cant) install my chipset drivers, so its using aan generic from windows :/

Unfortunately Intel is not supporting drivers for your motherboard anymore and Asus' website isnt either.

You are at the mercy of dated drivers by Microsoft and while your old video card worked, adding a new card may not. PCI-E 1.0 to a PCIE 3.0 card most of the time will work. You have one of those flaky chipsets that do not like change, the G41.

I did do some research online for about 15 minutes and found alot of sites with people that have your same issue, unfortunately, no fix was available. You have a chipset that is 6 years old and seen 3 different OS's.

You could spend some time trying, the driver you need to install is the G41 Intel Chipset Driver and old drivers will not work and crash. Be very careful where you get your drivers, most of the "driverscape sites and the likes" are scams. GL and report back if you did get a fix. Personally I would raid the Asus support forums and see if someone found a way around it.

I got it from the intel driver update utility, never had issues installing it, just this time

fyi: latest driver for my chipset is 10.1.1.14 (the one i trying to install, which i got it from intel driver utility and its 2015) the latest one is 10.1.1.42

the installed one from microsoft is 10.0.15063.332 from 2006
