I guess we know where tennisball likes to prowl when he isn't shitposting on these forums eh? :P
First of all, seems to be a flawed publication as their source material is rather outdated.
As to the 'villains', some people can change to a better path and in the end, it can be a mental torture to be alone. Of course, it is sad to see and know people use it to fish victims but a lot of them are also used by honest people. A sex offender doesn't have to mean criminal for life and can be 'retrained' for a social life outside the bars.
And if we talk risk; dating is a risk. Always have been. What you can experience online can almost happen in real life too.
FOMO: "Fear Of Missing Out", also commonly known as people with a mental issue of managing time and activities, many expecting others to fit into their schedule so they don't miss out on things to come. If FOMO becomes a problem for you, do seek help, it can be a very unhealthy lifestyle..
I was pointing out the fact that the article is vague, and using numbers to scare people. 10% of users being sex offenders or 1 in 10 doesn't really bother me too much. Sure, some of them may have committed a crime, that doesn't make them 'villains'. Also, you know what qualifies as a sex offender? Basically anything.
If a kid takes a picture of his girlfriend and they're both under 18, he could have to register as a sex offender. The information is too vague to make any kind of judgement calls on.

This is WoW fansite, WoW which has always required the internet was available for purchase late 2004.
I am quite certain that with loose definition of what is considered sexual misconduct and the accessibility of the internet by all I imagine this number is probably higher today in 2017 than it was in 2005.
The golden rule still stands.
Don't be stupid online.
I've met alot of people using online.
You just have to be careful.
Not paranoid .. but cautious.
Seeing as how 15% of all adults date online, this statistic seems neither surprising nor alarming.
Is this supposed to be news? I kinda figured there were always sex offenders lurking around on the internet. Nothing new here.
So...9/10 sex offenders dates the old fashioned way?
Human progress isn't measured by industry. It's measured by the value you place on a life.
Just, be kind.
I hoping your joking and know they were talking about a website.
