Always Alliance?

This is probably a dumb question with an obvious answer but why am I always on the blue team whatever hero I pick? Tried asking in chat but of course you only get toxic replies.

Because HotS isn't warcraft... There is no alliance and horde in HotS. Well, technically there is since we have warcraft characters, but the game itself doesn't feature alliance versus horde as a concept. It's simply "these guys versus those other guys".

You're not on "The blue team". Blue team is you, no matter which side/team you are. Blue team is the other team to them.

EDIT: It has no relevance to the alliance.
