It's a matter of breaking down crime stats into racial categories, which a number of countries don't do. Private firms and third parties still compile the information anyway, but it runs the risk of being inaccurate and is too often dismissed (even if you cite estimates on the lower end, which still paint a less-than-favorable depiction for certain groups).
Yes, the problem isn't immigrants, and on a national level (individual states are somewhat different), they're not a huge problem. Most people understand on some level that "immigrant" is simply a more polite way of hinting at nonwhites.Haven't heard that before. I was simply giving an example from a Joe Rogan podcast in which the assertion was made that immigrants were overrunning the country by Trumpkins and their ilk, while any quick research done showed that the numbers didn't support the whole fearmongering that Republicans did with it.
Oh yes, totally weird. It's not like nonwhites have assimilation problems, or disproportionately do things that whites don't, or vote against white interests. No, they're as American as apple pie! And they see themselves that way, they're happy to stand shoulder to shoulder with me!Non-whites overrunning the country, uh? That seems like a really weird thing to worry or make a point about. Does it even matter if non-whites would be becoming more numerous than whites? Tell white people to fuck more, what difference does it make, white or black or colored you're all americans... Who even lays awake at night worrying about how many % of the people around them are white or not?
Also, there's some evidence to suggest that racial diversity undermines social trust and social cohesion ("Bowling Alone," granted, given his position, Putnam's gone into damage control). It's also not controversial in the slightest (considering how prevalent the thinking is in PoliSci texts), to suggest that left-wing economic programs are much harder to set up in multiracial societies. As someone who finds themselves in the center economically (Far left relative to the American spectrum), it's extraordinarily frustrating. Especially when you think of how much money could be reallocated towards public universities, or state-run healthcare if we didn't have such a diverse population. Hell, even when you assign 100% of military spending to whites, they're still one of two groups that are net contributors.
Honestly, the left has been sidelined by "minority issues," other problems aside, this is intensely frustrating.
And let's not pretend demographics are trivial and only ridiculous people worry about them, or consider them to be noteworthy. Colbert, when speaking to Ta-nehisi Coates, referenced the decline of the white majority, asking if there was "a chance for change" once whites become a minority. Various noteworthy "Left-wing" activists have made similar comments. They all boil down to their agenda having an easier time passing once whites lose their majority status.
