    Is an Ethernet Card recommended?

I'm building a new computer and trying to figure out if an Ethernet card is worth it? I have a gig internet speed. I plan on buying a z270 board. I assume they support 1 gig right? I just wanted to make sure before purchase.

I can't think of a single motherboard onboard NIC that doesn't have gigabit ethernet. I doubt anything with a 10/100 NIC onboard would support a cpu that could handle wow anyways.

On top of what everyone else is saying I'd recommend getting a board that includes either an Intel or Broadcom nic opposed to Realtek or Qualcom.

It really depends on what you are doing. If you are gaming you won't see much of a difference if any. If you are editting 4k video over a network from a remote/central server you might get a little noticable difference on your workstation.

    Just food for thought.
