Re: best 10-man setup in wotlk

it's best to have diversity. if you have a resto druid, you shouldn't have a moonkin or feral druid. And I'm using that just as an example. I'm sure there are fights where yes, you might want to double up on some, but for the most part, diversity is key.

No real reason aside the fact Id think this set up would be fun, and this is how my characters are set up or in Death Knights case will be.

    Tanks
    Protection Warrior
    (not sure yet) Death Knight

    Healers
    Restoration Druid
    Discipline Priest

    DPS
    Retribution Paladin
    Fire Mage
    Destruction Warlock
    Survival Hunter
    Enhancement Shaman
    Combat Rogue

Whatever floats your boat, but just seems kinda silly that you'd have that kind of attitude about it.

Hunting Party = 10man viability of SV hunters, woot, a little bit closer to spec parity. Those that want to be a team utility player will keep on doing what they enjoy, those that find self worth in the damage meters will keep doing what they do.

Re: best 10-man setup in wotlk

I´ll try to build a 10 man with one member of each class (i like to have the possible need for every pioece of loot and for 10man this works great) +two missing roles (usually tank or healer). DK will come a bit later. They first have to close the gap between 55 and 70. I think the first week or perhaps first two weeks we´ll do 10man without DK. And then we will have the problem of having a team no one wants to leave. hmmm poor DK´s. So i have to wait and see if one of my old team mates will play a DK, so that we could begin rotate somehow.
First 10 man composition will naturally be designed around our guild intern leveling speed without much attention on funktionality. But to be earnest we all will be to curious to wait for the optimal raid composition. We´ll start visiting Naxx (??) as soon as we somehow can.
Later on i will raid with people i like and trust. Usually they know how to play their class, have a nice sense of humor and are very persistent to achieve their goals.

Re: best 10-man setup in wotlk

Why are people ranking warrior as MT all the time? They are good tanks, but in wotlk they will loose it. Blizzard is making all the other tanks shine alot more!

My guild will probably run without warriors at all, just for the fun of it. All these years of warrior, warrior, warrior, warrior.

One question though, is DK really going to be a good tank/dps ?

Oh this is so true. So many braindead people have come and ruined World of Warcraft. But what can we do? Nothing.

Re: best 10-man setup in wotlk

Isn't certain buffs and abilities that are now group only supposed to be raid-wide in wotlk?
I can't remember but I think it was pally aura and totems atleast.
If this is true it moves us away from conventional group compositions in raids.
It leaves us with "just be in range" =)

Re: best 10-man setup in wotlk

Just got the last spot filled. We'll start with:

    Prot Warrior
    Feral Druid
    Enhancement Shaman
    DPS Warrior
    Ret Pally

    Resto Shaman
    Healer Priest
    Elemental Shaman
    Warlock
    Mage

I thought about taking a DK instead of a Ret Pally, but I don't think there'll be much need to it on 10 mans. Also we skipped the Shadow Priest in favor for a Elemental Shaman, as there are enough mana regen abilities now (atleast for 10 mans).
Alltogether I tried to keep known lineups and give the raid a maximized support with alot of shamans. Think with that we'll nuke our way through the 10 mans pretty fast (all half to full T6 geared and experienced as a ground in ZA timed runs (always with 10-15 mins left on the timer)).

    Prot Warrior mt
Feral Druid ot/dps mark of the wild
    Enhancement Shaman dpsmelee/suporting totems
    hunter misdirection, traps
    rogue sap dps

    Resto Shaman chainheal/suporting totems
shadow Priest infinite mana with tide extra debuff for lock and mage , stamina
    holy pally blessing fol spammer
    Warlock cc healstone soulstone aoe
    Mage cc int aoe ..

its a group with all kinds of cc, dps aoe... for all 10 p raids

all you need for a good 10 man is ten smart people
QFT, cause you just won the Internet!

Thats really what its about. Its not about 10 classes, its about the 10 people that PLAY those classes.

Just because you made it to 70, 80, 500, doesn't mean you know wtf you're doing sadly enough.

I rolled an alt on another realm to revisit it (I used to play there frequently and trans'd off).

I had a mid to high 60's warlock in my party. "We're doing Ramps, everyone get there, says the tank".
    Warlock: Where's that?
    Me: Uhh, HFP
    Warlock: Where?
Someone else: The starting zone for Outlands.
Me: Uhh, did you buy your character on Ebay?
Warlock: Huh, no, a buddy gave this to me a few days ago, said I should play the game, I'd enjoy it.
    <Party leave button from 4 others asap>

Yes, they do exist. Yes, its only going to become more common. I can't wait for this in LFG: Death Knight, looking for Death Knights for a Death Knight run, seeking a healing death knight, cause thats all everyone's rolling from 55-70 right now".

Yes. Its gonna happen that way. While everyone else is leveling their classes from 70-80, the DK's are gonna suffer solo'ing to 72-73'ish its almost a guarantee, just to have the chance to catch up to those doing 5 man's at that time.
I play the class in WotLK that is the worst spec class, that got nerfed, while all the other spec's got buffed. Which class is that? All of them of course...if you believe forum posts

Re: best 10-man setup in wotlk

As a fury warrior, I find myself in the "No-Love" zone for 10 mans. However, its more than likely that it won't matter much in the 10 mans, I mean a DPS is a DPS.

If only there was a shout that increased the primary attribute of everyone in the raid...then there'd be more love

I like this one, only I'd put in a DPS warrior instead of a ret paladin. With paladin buffs, enhancement shammy buffs, and leader of the pack, a warrior could battle shout the melee group and do some sick damage.

What was the ret pally bringing to the table? health regen? DK does that.

    wipe recovery
more buffs ( better than your silly battleshout since they can swap different blessings for different class needs)
better threat management and can bubble if they pull aggro
    auras
more crit % on main target
more damage to everyone effected by aura

what does a dps warrior bring again?
