Damn how I want one of those beta invites, my pre-wrath checklist is running out, and now I'm adding new worthless ideas:

1.Fishing to 375, check.
2.Win fishing tournament, check.
3.Max cooking, check.
4.Level Ret paladin? Working on it.

I re-leveled a warrior to 70 since I'm not going to do much with my druid main until Lich King.
That's when they released the paladin talents. *sigh* Paladin's currently level 27...

From my standpoint, the problem with raiding kitty druids is that we never get into a first kill as cat dps. Sure, we're chosen as flame/MT/saberlash tanking, but not as a cat. If there is any other dps raider online, darned straight I'll be sitting my cat butt down by the summoning stone. Once the first 25 raiders understand the fight, that's when we swap in kitty dps for excessive vanquisher drops. We have 3 feral specced druids in the guild and only one is needed for a tanking role at a time. That's a lot of sitting time.

I'd love to see some cat buffs in WotLK that change current min/max raid set ups. If it means having to give up 3-8 points in pure-tank talents for pure-cat talents then thats a great trade. My biggest concern is gear in the expansion. Leather gear has to satisfy Moonkin, Tree, Cat, Bear, and Rogue. Hit doesn't do a healer much good, and stamina means a lot more to a bear than a rogue. It's going to be tough to bridge the gap with gems alone.

wow, that's unfortunate, we have a feral who almost only does kitty dps (he will tank if needed, but hates it) and he's been there for almost all of our first kills.
and I wouldn't worry about the gear, we will not be using the same gear to heal / boom / dps / tank anymore than we do now.

Feral Druids aren't intended to do equal DPS to a Rogue (min/max in similar gear). That said, they should scale as well as you do, which is what that post meant.

Well there you have it rogues... Druids will just scale better, not outDPS you or even equal your DPS. TBC cats do not scale at all in comparision.

While it's a cool party trick. I wouldn't think that the goal should be to remove a spot from the encounter for a real tank just to satisfy somebody's desire for a gimmick.

There is quite a difference from having a mob that has an AOE effect that makes ranged attacks/tanking necessary, and having a melee tankable mob that can't be tanked by a real tank because of some stupid gimmick.

The utility of cat form has always been that when not needed to tank, a druid can switch into cat form and still do respectable dps compared to the other tank classes. That is why feral druids are the best off-tanks to bring when you don't have tons of adds to deal with. I don't see a problem with cat form being broken so much as players who want to have it all and play exclusively as a tank or as melee dps, all within the same talent tree. That is a luxury no other class shares.

The problem is this "off-tank utility" doesn't scale. How many guilds bring more than one rogue to dps in BC raids? Lots, right? How many guilds bring more than one kitty dps'er? None?

Blizzard is working towards interchangeable parts. Need dps-increasing auras? Bring a boomkin or a ret paly. Need melee auras? Bring a feral or a enhance shammy. Need debilitating curses? Bring a lock or a DK. They want people to have choices. They don't want 99% of guilds to run with 1 prot warrior, 1 feral OT, 1 paly who respecs holy and prot every boss fight, 3 rogues, 1 enhance shammy, etc.

I have to be the most unlucky guy on the planet, even with my blizzcon07 code I still didn't receive a beta key & 2 waves of opt-ins went by already.

Other than the one guy in this post who said he got in beta and he is in the US ... I have not heard of anyone getting a beta key in the US. ( Other than Vis Maior )

This has been covered, Summer and Winter Olympics take place 2 years between each other since 1992. I guess the Summer ones have more hype.
