BS and adding sockets to weapons

i was reading some forums and it says that BS can put sockets in there weapons if they are weapon smiths and put sockets in there bracers and gloves if they are armor smiths. Is it still this way in beta? and does that mean 2handed weapons get 2 sockets and 1 handed weapons get 1 socket to balance out the dual weilding socket theory?

Re: BS and adding sockets to weapons

    I think you read wrong....

ALL blacksmiths can add sockets to gloves and bracers and also belts (this item is also BoE)
WEAPONsmith can add socket to weapon(s)
ARMORsmith can add metasocket to chest

Both of them say: "Permanently add a socket to your gloves/bracers."

Edit: About that "dual wielding socket theory...", i don't think that there is any chance for 2h weapons to get two sockets.

That's how the verbage on all Enchants goes.

"Permanently adds a socket to a one-handed weapon."

There is no "your" word in that sentence.

Not really, the only class it would help out the most would be a Deathknight that duel wields.

Because any class that duel wields suffers the extra needed stamina.

This is fair in every way as Blacksmithing was BS pre BC, unless you were making the fire resist gear which was one person a guild.

In BC, the gear got nicer, but after season 2 it became worthless.

Now in Wrath, it is worth it to get it. It is by far the most exspensive if not the most exspensive. Because no matter JC or Enchanting, the gear they have to encahnt or craft can still be sold well.

In blacksmithing 90% of stuff have to be vendord or DE, or Sold at a loss.

Long time coming. I just have to respec to armorsmith because I will be a tank.

The belt socket thinky seems to be something like the leg armour kits that are made and sold by leatherworkers in BC. ie, they are tradable enchants which don't require a blacksmith to use.

wrt the weapon socket ... the spell description (on wowhead, at least) states that you can socket a weapon ... doesn't say it must be your own weapon.

Gloves / Bracers appear to be the only self-benefit of BS so far .. (I think there's a dagger and sword that requires you to be a weaponsmith later ... but that's it so far). Expect a massive Blacksmithing recipe beta patch soon ... then we can all go orgasmic ;-)

Warriors?, Rogues?, Shaman?, Hunters? - they all dual wield and would benefit from the sockets

Re: BS and adding sockets to weapons

I am just curious if the added sockets are going to mess with the Socket Bonuses or if the added sockets even have a specific color, or if they are randomly selected.

Would be pretty sweet if the colors were random, and made the socket bonus +1 better.

Re: BS and adding sockets to weapons

The added sockets are colorless, so any color will go for the bonus

But, right now, Blacksmithing is more powerful any other profession regarding raid stat boosts, since you can make a minimum of 3 sockets extra on your own gear (everyone and their mum will get the belt buckle)

and 1 Epic Quality gem is worth 23 spell power, the same as 1 Ring enchant.
You can only have 2 rings, but 3 sockets is better!

If I'm not going to keep herbalism on my mage, I'm rolling Blacksmithing instead if I wanted the maximum boost for raiding
-You might not like my methods, but you gotta love the results!-

Not to mention that if you are a Blacksmith, you are most likely a miner. At max level, your mining will give you a basically free +50 STA.

Again, this is only from what I've heard around, and my interpretation of the items / spells, etc ... but I believe the new socket can take any gem ... but doesn't affect the socket bonus (ie, you still need to match the original socket colours to get the bonus)

Re: BS and adding sockets to weapons

The sockets are colorless, wont give or help with the socket bonus in any way.
