I don't really care what you call it as long as you don't, EVER, call it an 'inscriptor'. If you have any halfway decent internet browser, like firefox or w/e, there's a built in spell checker. Inscriptor is not a word. Never has been, never will be. A Scribe is the name given to anyone who makes their living Inscribing. On the same note, there is no such word as 'inscriptionist'. You are a Scribe if your profession is Inscription. http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?achievement=1422 Thank you Rilgon.

Re: 'Scriptors' sholder buffs vs rep ones?

Although English is not my native language, it wasn't hard for to find out that "Inscription" is
    a) The act or an instance of inscribing,
    b) Something, such as the wording on a coin, medal, monument, or seal, that is inscribed,
    c) Something, such as a stone or metal tablet, that is inscribed, and
    d) An enrollment or a registration of names,

    "Inscribe" is
    a) To write, print, carve, or engrave (words or letters) on or in a surface,
    b) To mark or engrave (a surface) with words or letters,

    and "Scribe"
    a) A public clerk or secretary, especially in ancient times,
    b) A professional copyist of manuscripts and documents,
and as a noun, a person who made handwritten copies of manuscripts or documents before the invention of printing...

Re: 'Scriptors' sholder buffs vs rep ones?

Inscribe - to write on stuff

Inscription - stuff written on stuff

scribe - guy who writes on stuff

inscriber - machine or tool that writes on stuff

Also, Scribe is shorter, and would make trade channel more compact. Vote Scribe today, and also learn Latin before lol-speculating about the "right" way to say things.

scribere is the infinitive that means "to write"

in is a prefix that means "in or on" and occasionally serves as an intensifier.

It's not the kind of prefix you put on the front of a title however. It's a preposition moved to the front of a verb to simplify sentence structure. There's nothing inherently "wrong" with saying "inscriber" but it's redundant. Anyone who writes will write on something. If you have some idea that "inscription" has some very specific esoteric meaning, then your only rational English alternative to scribe to "inscriptioner." which is a perfectly acceptable word in English, but chances are, it will make you feel stupid to say it.

    I reiterate. Just say scribe.
