Re: Is this 34/32/5 Tanking Build Viable?

I see your point. If blessed life wasnt so far down the holy tree, it wouldve been a great addition to prot tanks.

All I can say is thanks for the new Sig!

Personally, I think Holy Shock for Prot Paladins would be a very cool mechanic. It could be used for threat or mitigation, and is very Paladin like. (Heal tanking anyone?)

How about the 30 other points in the holy tree that are a complete waste for a prot pally in pve?

Just there for eye candy. Looks good but completely useless.

Did i mention u need to actually block with your shield first? unless block chance is 100%, may not happen often

Btw im talking about survivability here, not about a build with the most threat output
    NO!

Sorry, but i'm gonna be really to the point with this guy, because he deserves it and because i'm sick and tired of people not doing their f'ing research.

As of 3.0, ALL of our end-game tanking pieces have str. on them instead of intel and spell power. With the changes to block, 2 str now equals 1 block. Before you go "Oh that's bullspit", our spells scale with AP as well as SP now. On the PTR, i believe i had about 700 BV WITHOUT speccing into Redoubt.

You go on to try and tell us what goes in order of priority on avoidance? Don't do it. Any tank who's worth his salt knows the avoidance order.

As for the spec you posted, it's complete and utter bull. You're missing out on BOTH avengers shield AND Hotr?! What are you; stoned, drunk, or did you get hit by the "Rainbow bus"? You sacrificed ALL of your mitigation JUST to get a terribad tanking build. As a tank, you NEVER sacrifice your mitigation talents to get more threat. If you can't take the damage, you won't be putting out ANY threat once the boss hits you 4 times in a row, and you're face down in the dirt. The rule of "If you overaggro and die, you don't do any DPS" applies to tanks in a similar manner; "If you can't survive a few hits, and you die, you ain't gonna be doing any TPS".

By all means, if you wanna be a shockadin, go with it, but don't come back crying here when your guild gkicks you because you said you could tank and repeatedly wiped them on bloodboil due to mitigation issues.

I apologise to everyone else who had to read this from me, but he's not done his research and asked for a reply like that.

Mabey for the easy 5 mans if you wanna be able to switch to holy gear and heal really well, but one you start hitting hard heroics and raids this build just gives up a bit too much mitigation and threat to be useful unless you extremely outgear what your tanking, and by that point your not the MT, your just the ot/healer thats been taking tank and healing gear.

Yeah, 10% proc chance to reduce dmg with 50% makes out to a flat 5% dmg reduction, same as the parry and dodge talent. Granted, it works for spells aswell and is only 3 pts, but the mitigation, threat, avoidance and health you're missing out on it the prot tree heavily outweighs Blessed life.

I am sorry if I sound harsh, but I have 3 letters for the OP: L 2 P. There really isn't much else to say.
