    Retribution Spec / Gear ?

    Going to be respecing my pally tonight to duo with someone PvE leveling 60-70. I've haven't been ret since back when Consecrate was in the Ret tree. Figured with all the talk, I'd give it a shot. Whats the current hot spec?

    Also, what is the gear preference for ret pallys (which stats are important)? I've been a heal/tank only for so long I'm not sure what to get these days.

    Gear: Pretty much what warriors and death knights are/will be wearing.

    Spec for 60: http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?pala...00000000000000

    Might as well spec Prot it's higher DPS and more useful.

    Re: Retribution Spec / Gear ?

    Here's an alternate lvl 60 spec: http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?pala...00000000000000

    Reasons: for levelling I personally consider crit damage to be not as important (particularly when levelling gear will generally leave your crit% relatively low by comparison), so no RV. Having said that, RV will / has been changed to be a DoT from crits now, but I think that means even more so that it's not as useful for PvE - mobs will generally die faster than the time for the DoT to take effect. Also, whilst Imp BoM is useful, I think with so few talent points to spend they're better off elsewhere for now.

    As for what it's been put into: SoC is great to use particularly with the Glyph for it (increases chance of proc by 20%, which with a slowish weap means almost 100% proc rate), 3% haste from retrib aura (which is pretty much the only one worth using) is nothing to be sniffed at, and Pursuit of Justice for increased running speed meaning faster levelling. I also put a point in Sanctified Wrath as AW is nice to use for burning things down even faster.

    As you level, I'd strongly recommend getting 5 points into Divine Strength when you can. 15% extra strength for 5 talent points is a bargain.

    as i havent been able to play do to deplayment, ive been keeping up. this is the 70 ret spec i will be using when i get back in a month or so...seems to be the most dmg you can get in my mind. granted my paly has been on the shelf for about a year since i play a resto druid as my main. this seems viable to me, hopefully you will agree.

    This is the spec i've gone for, as pve retribution paladin;
    http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sZ0LZVfbt0IucMsguAo

    Pulling out 1700-2500 dps, but that'll be due to gear aswell.

    Pvp spec would be changing one talent into Devine Purpose. Or getting it when WOTLK comes out.

    Gear;
    I would say get strength/stam/crit (or agil) on items.
    something like; http://www.wowhead.com/?item=25715
    With using Judgement of the wise as your main source of mana regen, you can stay up for a long time without resting as much.
    Aswell if your taking to much dmg at this level, using seal of Light, and Judgement of the wise, will make your down time alot less.

    And you don't get AW until 70 and the OP asked for a 60-70 leveling spec so Sanctified Wrath is useless except for the Hammer of Wrath crit.
    Tested on a low level paladin (lvl 61 on ptr at the time), with Hammer of Wrath having a huge crit rating, it's a good burst ender, or if the target runs (if your using judgement of light/wisdom instead of justice). I would still take this talent, but maybe later on (Devine storm is a must over other things ).

    Second edit;
    http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sZZVfbt0IucMsxzAo
    This would be the build i'd have for level 61, and then work out for the other retribution talents (either swift retri or sanctifed wrath, then go into Prot tree for the strength talent, or do strength before retri talents).

    I was thinking on almost some spec. I maybe just change 2 poitns so i can put 2 point on Eye for an Eye.
    Thx for your post

    Re: Retribution Spec / Gear ?

    i think you could take 2 out of pursuit and use them in eye for an eye. is that what you had in mind?

    I think i will put some as yours, i just see if i can take 1 point else where so i can have 5 points on Devine Strenght.

    Thx m8

    I don't know which point i would remove for 5/5 strength, it would be nice to take that 3% more strength. But i just don't know where i could remove things. Maybe Sanct Wrath, but that's 30seconds for a 20% dmg boost.

    I will just wait till WOTLK hits and worry mainly on a proper build;
    http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sZ0eZVfrtbIufMsguAo
    (i got to around lvl 74 and it just looked like i had 6 points to use on anything half useful in my opinion, so i just started putting things anywhere).

    Edit;
    I got a idea where to get that 3% more strength from;
    Sanctfied Seals (2/3) if you got high crit, it wont loose anything major.

    I was thinking on take of the Swift Retribution points and put it 1 on Srenght and the 2 others on Stoicism.

    Re: Retribution Spec / Gear ?

    Thanks for the posts. Very very helpful. Got to try it out around Hellfire last night and it was pretty interesting. I was leveling an Enhancement Shaman to have a melee character, but using my old paladin was pretty fun (Pally had been shelved since before BC.. just sitting at 60)

    So a build like this;
    http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sZ0gZVfbt0IucMsgzAo

    I find Stoicism more of a pvp talent, or a good "left over talent", but not something i would take over a main spec.
    Swift Retribution, is a great talent, as it's a raid buff, aswell with totems, and other haste buffs given by other classes, helps alot.

    But it's down to what you play in PVE or PVP. My friend did 1/2 Sanct Wrath, but that's a miss of 30seconds on our Wings CD, which is a huge boost in dps loss. I'm still thinking of doing 2/3 Sanct seals.
    As it's only 1% crit less than what people have. I got 27.72% crit, when a minium for raiding or standard crit should be atleast 25% with a good hand on Ap.

    This is what i'll spec into, for that 3% strength gain;
