Is Idol swapping for Balance worth the hastle now?

Trying to think outside the box on gearing:
With the lengthened duration of Moonfire through Glyph of Starfire; is it worth the hastle to make macros for Idol swapping?
I was thinking something like equip:

... cast moonfire, swap to this:
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27518
... cast Starfire x 7.

Rinse and repeat?

IIRC, they removed the ability to swap idols while in combat.

Can you link me proof of this? Or are you talking about the fact that we can't do this in game? I haven't played for a month (Killed KJ) and I am just prepping and reading up on things.

Idol/Totem/Libram swapping is no longer possible. I think they made it by adding a GCD to an idol swap.

Well, the proof is, just log in and try. You won't be able to swap an idol during a cast. That's it.

And idol swapping is a GCD, so it's not worth it.

Idol Swapping triggers the GCD but you can "hide" it with a macro like
cast starfire
equip Ivory Idol of the Moongoddess

This you will only have the GCD of the Starfire-cast, not of the item swapping, and with the right lag (or not-lag, i'm not entirely sure) the cast will even get the bonus of the item equipped AFTER beginning to cast....

I think they changed it so you dont get the bonus of something if its equipped after you start your cast. This was changed because mages would have tons of hast on a wand, start a cast and then switch to a wand with high spellpower. The cast would be the speed of the high haste wand and would get the damage of the high spellpower wand.
