Mind Sear : Crit and Inner Focus

That's also my suggestion , to use it initially.

Whether you can use use it several times in a fight and how you'll use it is very fight dependant.

On say Malygos, I usually end up using the second Inner Focus on a Mind Blast.

Well i believe you should specify that than, obviously the first cast would go to swp, but since on some fights (gothik) you will get multiple casts of inner focus, i would assume people would be talkin about the majority of casts

On some fights, like Malygos, you also have to put up SW:P several times.

With my current gear, I'm convinced that it's overall better DPM (Damage Per Mana) to use it on SW:P rather than Mind Blast / SW

It might change later with more spirit.

mind sear and inner focus works just fine.. pop IF and watch them crits.

too however was "bragging" about pushing 2.5k dps on Patchwerk, you should really l2p before posting what other ppl should use their IF for.
after a full clear of Naxx-25 i was #1 on dps, and on all boss-fights it was no sweat to break 3k dps (sustained).

No, seriously, I said what my dps was, not as a brag. I'm gear limited without encounter special dps-bonuses (such as on Malygos or Thaddius).

Neither am I saying what to use it for, we're discussion how it's most efficient. Thanks for not reading the discussion and the numbers. I'm sure any intellegent member of the community can fine understand what's being written in this post.

How to use Inner Focus for mana efficiency:

Single target: IF + Devouring Plague
25% base mana cost and 24 sec cd/dot. Have to be renewed manually unlike Shadow Word: Pain.

Multiple targets: IF + Mind Sear
28% base mana cost, critable spell (see below).


How to use Inner Focus for highest potencial damage output efficiency:

Single target: IF + Mind Blast
Highest burst spell shadowpriest have, triggers Improved Spirit Tap (gives some mana back, no numbers on mana efficency here. /careface).

Multiple targets: IF + Mind Sear
28% base mana cost, critable spell lots of damage done, obviously.

Both above = more damage = mobs/boss die faster = efficiency.

There is more than one way to look at efficiency.

Not to be a stickler but if 750 is 22% of base then isn't base (750/22)*100? That btw, equals about 3410. Not sure where you got 15k @_@

I was comparing the mana difference between Mind Blast and SW:P. Others were merely stating the cost of SW:P and saying "Is regen from Imp. Spirit Tap worth the 750 mana you would save by using SW:P instead of MB?" My point was that MB has a mana cost too, so you should be comparing the Imp. Spirit Tap regen to the difference in mana between MB and SW:P, not just SW:P's cost. So for their comparison to be accurate, you'd need 15k base mana.

I don't think I'm communicating this very effectively. I know the point in my head, just not stating it well. <_<

I did Patchwerk (25man) with no points in Shadow Affinity, pumped out 2500 dps, and never were even close to the tanks.

And this is worth mentioning... why?
Our hunters pumped out 4k+ dps on Patchwerk, we didn't have a shadowpriest with us at that time, but a bit later on one joined and he did equal dps on a different boss.

With 2.5k dps you'd be a waste of a raid spot even in SWP. Bye now.

still 2.5k dps on a single stationary fight is really low, no matter how many insults you throw hell, i think i even did that on bruta in 3.02

And so did I.
And I'm pretty much wearing the same gear as back then.

Last I checked, the damage scaling for casters went down with leveling, not up. Because of hit rating require you to nerf your old stats.
