I need my mining skill to 300, fast!

How can i do this?
I have used a dozen of guides and even have an addon that shows me where all the things are i can mine.
But most of the time (90%) the things to mine are not there... And it takes jsut too long all this walking.

I heard you can go up to skill 300 just by smelting ore is this correct? How could i be able to do this and what would it cost me? Current skill is 80 @ level 70 and full skinning though.

So i want my skill to 300 asap so i can actually mine something valuable in outland.

(Assuming you are clvl 60+ and horde)

zones to skill:

- the barrens -> just run along the hills
- 1000needles -> same thing, run along the hills and in the caves (go there if you're near the skill u need to mine iron)
- badlands -> surprise, run around on the hills (go there if you're near the skill u need to mine mithril)
(make a quick run round the gorge if you need skill from small thorium)
- silithus -> alternate between the three hives (go there if you can mine small thorium and near rich thorium)

u can get some early points by smelting ore but you can't avoid going into zones that are ROUGHLY for levels (mining skill / 5)... e.g. 250 mining ROUGHLY = L50 zone.

Anyway, what about the smelting? Lets say i want to boost my skill to 200 by smelting?
What will i need to smelt and what would it cost me in total you think?

To skill minig by smelting is imo just plain stupid. The old zones are pretty playerless and if you switch as soon as the next depots are minable you will get to 300 pretty quick.

u wont gain skill in mining when u smelt. Its just the start of ur mining carrer u can do so

you can level up from just smelting. i have on my death knight all the way to 230 skill and have only spent 200 or so gold. it saves time running around. the only problem would be not finding the right ore on the AH. and i usually make most of that gold back by selling it back as bars for those leveling black smithing.

Most of you guys want to know, how you can push your mining skill to the max, in the shortest time, so you can level your DK an make some money with him while leveling (or skill Blacksmith, or whatever).
But with the recent changes (gathering professions have no level restrictions) I see great potential for twinks.
Think of a level 1 twink, who gets the highest rank for mining specialist (I think it was +500HP).
