Re: My thoughts on how to tweak beacon of light

I've been tanking for 2 years (Druid then Pally) before trying out Holy on the pally, and I have to say it's been extremely rewarding so far. I really don't mind the way bacon is working right now, and the shield buff is very cool. I have to agree with the above poster that talked about satisfaction vs. difficulty level. Yeah we're difficult to play but damn is it fun!

Tanking on the pally pre-3.0 was the same thing... it was the infernal machine, 12 different buttons to worry about on independent timers, a GCD that was always in the way, a taunt that could wipe a raid if used at the wrong time and real gear grind/gem/enchant problem to get crush capped. But it was fun and therefore satisfying!

If anything I'm worried they'll nerf our bacon... I'd hate to see it change it's function, but I do second the "Longer lasting but more mana cost" sentiment. It would be great if bacon was a cast-and-forget type buff that lasted a whole fight... but that would make it too easy I guess.

    Thoughts on Changes:

    1) Make over heals on healed targets transfer fully to the beacon.

    2) Make heals on the beacon, distribute heals to players within 10 yrds based on some fraction of the amount healed to the beacon.

It just seems like these tweaks would just go a long way, and not break the mechanic of the spell.

No flames please, honest feed back only: yes, they would help, Number 1 not number 2 heres why, No, they are not needed those paladins are bad.

its just some thoughts I am having, and if you flame me I do not care im Prot main spec and well I am content with where I am.
So basically you want to be able to put beacon on someone and then flop your dick on the holy light button with that person targetted while watching porn?
Actually, Mr. Lennon, I CAN imagine a world with no hatred, religion, war, or violence.
I can also imagine attacking such a world, because they would never see it coming.

On tha trespect all 4 healing classes have their strong points and I am certain that all 4 healing can manage heroics with basic dugeon gear.

The problem lies in the "ease of play".

The shaman for example is clearly the easiest healer to play. Its the only class with smart heals! It has reactive healing in the form of a buff. It has a talent that heals the party member with lowest health. Chain heal seeks its 2 secondary targets all by itself and makes a good work of it.

The paladin on the other hand is the toughest class by far. Only single target heals, each with different casting time. Beacon of Light's way of healing is also not easy master. He has LOTS of activie single target utility spells. He has to attack his targets for maximum healing.

Overall the paladin healing is imo the most challenging to play. It is tougher to master than other healing classes, but not more rewarding. That needs a fix. Either make it more rewarding, or make it a bit easier.
This. We have the most micro management of any healer, and Bacon doesn't help that. It is also not OP in PvP because 1) It is easily dispelled 2) Only lasts 1 minute if it isn't dispelled 3) Doesn't overheal 4) Huge mana cost. If we are going to have to keep dancing our butts off to perform our function, it should be a bit more rewarding.

just change the duration - heck, make the duration infinite, like a hunters aspect of the pack.

heck, 3 minutes would be great at this point. refreshing bacon always comes at the worst possible moments.

Re: My thoughts on how to tweak beacon of light

tbh, I don't know if is a good idea to make the duration higher. Imo is a bad thing as I change the beacon tank/player maybe like 2 3 times in a fight, and if is coming without me wanting it and especialy when my mana is bad, then I really got problems. Assuming is not happening that main tank and offtank switch agro I still change the beacon depending on situation, or I let it off for an amount of time, or put it on the tank/offtank that takes more damage.
Is kind of hard to imagine wich would be the best situation, but I kind of preffer something like this: Beacon of light, 3 mins full mana cost. If refreshed until is not down, then it should be a lower mana cost, or maybe it should be a way to change the beacon person, with a really small amount of mana, without refreshing it. But well, I like it this way, as is something more to worry about, but still a bit too much, maybe there should be same cooldown of 1 min for both sacred shield and beacon of light. Like this, there comes a moment when you have to reapply them. Or just use them with a bit of time between them, so that won;t cut off your GCD too much.
