Hello, being fairly new to the end game raiding scene as a Rogue, I have recently realised that the default UI is made of fail:-X. I seem to be dragging my eyes all over the screen to see cooldowns, poison timers, energy regen, combo points and buff durations. :
I have seen a couple of screenshots of the Interfaces I like. Unfortunately I'm hopeless at creating new UI's and would like some help!
To be honest, fiddle with it yourself. That way you learn how to use the three AddOns that create the interface and you can then use that knowledge to imrpve it further or edit the interface once updates are released due to new TOC versions making your interface broken.
For starters, you could use the following to create something like the one you posted. I know there are various alternatives for the ones I am about to list, but I have experience with the following:
-Prat- For customizing the chats
-EePanels2- Creating a colored background
-Recount- For the damage meter
-BarTender4 - Making customized actionbars
-ButtonFacade- Styling the buttons on said bars ("Caith" is used)
-Pitbull- Used in the player/target frames
-SimpleMiniMap- To make the minimap small and skinned
-HUD- To create the half-circled character info around your character.
As far as AddOns go, these are the ones I could pick out. The last one I mentioned (HUD) can be found in many flavors and forms; you can search for "HUD" (and any other mentioned AddOn as well, obviously) onhttp://www.wowinterface.com
Good luck, have fun! It's not very hard, though it may seem a bit scary when first starting.
You see, most AddOns start with their full scala available. BarTender, for example, will by default display almost all it's (exta) bars. If you first see this, you may think it´s messy and bad, but as soon as you hide your Blizzard standard UI Action bars, things become more clear already. /bar will allow you an intuitive configuration and yuo should be on your way soon enough. Same goes for EePanels and ButtonFacade. Only Pitbull involves a bit steeper learning curve, but it´s still very managable for someone, even to those who never worked with UI editting before
Yeah I was planning on doing that, but when I did it everything was so roshamboed i just thought BLERGH. I'm going to try create my own, I'll upload some screens later.
