Curse of Weakness: So much potential to help locks

Since blizzard has adopted the "bring the player, not the class philosophy", curse of weakness has lost its usefulness in PvE (and lets face it, next to no one specced into improved curse of weakness). So, here's an opportunity to give something to locks that may actually help PvP and can still have some use in PvE.

Here's my idea for the new curse of weakness:

Curse of weakness: w sec cool down, x% of base mana
Weakens the target reducing all damage done by y% for z seconds.

Simple. Locks get a useful PvP curse that may save them, it can't be spammed (thus affecting only one target). This spell would save a lot of locks from melee or even save a fellow healer. A curse with a cool down is nothing new, look at curse of doom.

    Any thoughts?

    No.
    Why?
you said it, "bring the player, not the class philosophy.

No he is saying that the "bring the player not the class" has made the curse worthless pve..... so he's talking about the pvp aspect which means "bring the player not the class" doesn't apply to warlocks right now.

Its a good idea. it would be nice to have some curse difference instead of CoA or CoE all the time, and anything could be an improvment if we can stay alive through inital burst

Why not just give locks the ability to cast 2 curses on a target?
Makes keeping up coe not as bad for the locks dps as well .
Though that might make CoA + CoD op in pve?

I get why they wouldn't want to do it cause of DPS curses, BUT, I think they might as well attach CoE to any curse you apply as a debuff since both boomkins and unholy death knights get them "for free".

Weakness, nah, maybe only for pvp, but when a rogue is hitting you that curse of weakness is not going to help much, rather do just damage than and hope he dies.

Given how weak CoEx is (30% snare is the weakest snare in the game...look it up) I'd like to see the CoEx talent point apply that weak snare to any curse cast. Its not much but it would help a little.

That or put a CD on it and give it some real bite (vs chains of ice, crippling, etc)

Curse of weakness is another warlock ability that they give other classes a better version that doesn't impact their dps. A pvp improvement opportunity it needs a negative haste aspect or a % attack power reduction (or both).

If CoW applied a CoEx effect and had a negative haste w' stout ap reduction we'd be getting somewhere. Still wouldn't save us vs melee groups that magnetize to our backside but could knock the dmg down on one of them. (spammable might be op) If we can get the burst down low enough to have our healer not be in panic mode that is a good place.

Curses should be looked at, while it may sound fun to have a million curses for a million situations, you will most likely only use 2 or 3 max anyway. Better to overhaul weakness, recklessness, doom and coex to something more useful or to combine their effects to other curses.

Re: Curse of Weakness: So much potential to help locks

Agreed, they should combine some of the curses ability.

Exemple : Curse of Doom + Curse of element ! Would make keeping up curse of element kinda worthwhile when you don't have a moonkin or DK. You'd have to recast every minute, but it would do dmg at least.

Curse of weakness + Curse of Exhaustion together, don't say it would be OP plz... CoEx is a joke right now and weakness too... maybe both combined would do something though.

Get rid of CoRecklessness plz, that curse is f..... useless.

Why not just simplify it a bit and have major/minor curses.

    Majoroom/Elements/Agony
Minor:CoEx, CoW, and CoR, and CoT.

make it so you can only have 1 of the major curses up, while you can have any or all of the minor curses. seriously, the "Minors" i just listed really are minor compared to some of the other abilities, Arcanemage's Slow, warriors untalented Demo shout/hammy/ and the other armor reduc abilities that various classes get.

I would actually exchange Doom for CoEx than so you can have CoW and CoEx on target.
