    IMPORTANT: Signatures

The following rules are no longer true and are kept only for historical reference. Please see this topic for the updated version.

I understand armory-generated signatures are pretty popular, but please mind the other users (slow connection, small-screen devices...).

More than one image per signature is no longer allowed. "Giant" images in signatures are not acceptable either - the usual size is 64px height so please do not go too high over that. In any case, do not go over 100px.

100px max height. (with rare exceptions)
    500px max width.
    Animated GIFs are not allowed.
Rotating (changes on refresh) images are OK if they aren't heavy.
PNG preferred, or JPG for very detailed ones. GIF acceptable but not recommended.

Chaud: I will be removing massively violating signatures, and the only thing left will be a mess and your image URL.

    Re: IMPORTANT: Signatures

It would be a shame to have to restrict or disable signatures for everyone just because of a few people who cannot or refuse to abide by the rules.

Anyway.. You can into settings, and turn off pictures.. Fix it for those with a slow comp..
I'm located in east africa sitting on an acer aspire one (small 8" laptop that don't even have a CD room and my internett is so bad I have to wind it up. (no not really, but it's just that slow compared to when I lived in europe)

Anyhow - my point is that neather my limited speed or my small screen gives me any problem with any of the signatures on this fourm except for the occasional abnormal large flashy thing that gets removed after short time.

As a response to the crowds whining about PvE beeing too hard throughout vanilla and TBC Blizzard recently hired on Bob the Builder.
In a recent press confrence on the subject he was quoted as saying "Can we fix it? Yes we can!".

Registered members can chose to not display signatures in their profile: Look and Layout Preferences -> Don't show users' signatures.

Not 56k, but I have a 320k connection. The only upgrade is to go to a 1mb connection, for just over 80 bucks a month, and I'll pass on that.

Please take advantage of this signature guide that I wrote a while back. It will allow you to compress your signature somewhat while also showing the images that you still want to display:
Rather than show 5 signatures, showing a GIF with all 5 in there, is exactly the same thing imo, worse even since it contains overhead for controlling the image sequence and rotation times.
It takes a lot of load time.
Though, it does take up less screen space.

Meh... slower connection than 50mbit down and 16 up would be awfull...

Anyways... this is kinda offtopic and kinda not...

whats the code for making your sig (picture) a clickable link to your armory?

    - the usual size is 64px height so please do not go too high over that.

I'm gonna change the maximum size to 100px. 64px is more of a guideline.

I believe there is already a image limit set in place for avatars. If I am not mistaken I believe it is 80x80px.

An increasing amount of people are using their phones to browse websites like these, and the numbers are just growing.
3G dataplans and speeds can be nasty.
