How to gear as a feral in pvp

Ok i am fresh to feral pvp, because i mostly pve. Due to boredom during the raid downtimes i have started to pvp. I actually have started to like it but i am very unsure how to gem and enchant my gear.

I bought the full blue feral set, hateful bracers, cape, boots, and belt. I also have the beserker deck and medallion of the alliance. (medallion is the old shitty blue one with 20 resil for now) I am sitting at 122 hit, 35 crit and 430 resil. So my main question is how do i gem and enchant this gear? my yellow gems are currently hit and the reds are currently agility while my blues are stamina. I just put green quality ones in to have them there as a placeholder. Enchants are currently agility.

Any input would be great as when it comes to pvp i am very new. Also my weapon is currently the staff of trickery with a +85 ap enchant on it.

Re: How to gear as a feral in pvp

well i full time raid exept for friday and saterday raidded all the way through bc and shit as feral tank and never dps'd in raids. ever since patch 3.0 i couldn't really do much in cat form and had to do most things in bear form and thought it was ghey. but now in pvp bear = survivability witch is a key thing in arenas atm. when i pvp i only do arenas, atm i do 3s as tank spec and takes for ever to kill me. unbuffed in bear form i have 30k hp, about 36% dodge and wear 4/5 10 man t7 and 25 man t7.5 shoulders + the orgian of nightmares from 25 man grobb. so if you want to wear pvp gear go a head, but res is shit atm and is "waterd down". but this is how you gem and chant for feral pvp, basicly like you would for pve dps or tank agi - res and make sure you have agi and stam evend out so you dont have more of one stat then the other. hope this helps, if any, ha ^.^ have fun man

oh wow lol i never realized resil was so gimped. i will have to attempt in pve gear and see how that works. i am gonna /facepalm if the pve gear is better in this case.

You wouldn't stand a chance as feral anyways these days.

Estimated time to live, in current standards (time in seconds to live vs a Retridin, ~500 resilience and respectively ~17.5k/35k HP):

Cat Form, about 1.5 to 2 seconds
Bear Form, about 6 to 7 seconds

If you use Berserk and spam Glyphed Maul + Mangle you _could_ ditch out some K's of damage. Cat is utterly useless unless you're 100% sure they won't be hitting you (even then Bear seems to do more burst dps).

Ive played a lot of very good feral druids in the 1700 bracket in 3v3. Burst damage is extremely high and the ability to lock down almost like a rogue is amazing. Gear just like you would a as a rogue, mostly crit/agi. Resilience is a very good stat, don't listen to whoever said that, It isn't as good as it used to be but 10% less chance to be critted is very good no matter how you look at it.

if you're talking about 3 ret pallies Re"tri"din yeah thats true but if you're talking about just 1 ret pally no you will live longer than that, I kill ret pallies in 2v2 all the time w/ disc priest as my arena partner

being uber in the arenas is not my goal. If i can reach 1800 rating i will be quite happy. as i have said i have nvr pvped outside the random ganking prior to wotlk. Having recently pvped as feral in arenas just last nite there is a lot of shit we can do. I mean the cyclones, roots, pounce, bash, maim. We have a lot of disables and its just a matter of getting used to them since i don't use any those in pve hardly ever. I think ferals have potential. granted we won't ride the top of the ratings but thats not my goal at least not for now. Maybe 3 or 4 months i can attempt to set a 2000 rating goal but i need much practice. as for those that posted thank you i will begin to lean towards crit and agi gear.

My advice would be resil and sta wherever you have a choice. Maybe str for the red ones but as a jewelcrafter I just put resil in them as well.

I can't see a reason why resil should be weaker than in bc. Yes, you need about twice the amount of resil rating to get the same percentage of crit reduction, but imo that equals out because those crits do at least twice as much damage as well. So the damage you avoid per resil rating should be about the same or even more. Resil also gets better the higher your total hp are and in bear you should be able to reach over 30k in pvp equip.
Not to mention that you also need a higher number of critrating and agi for the same crit percentage, that is not unique to resil rating.

So why should resil be weaker than before while damage stats are not?

Because they changed the relative itemization value of resilience. It is, in fact, weaker now, due to the tradeoffs. Yes, 15% crit reduction in WotLK is the exact same as 15% crit reduction was in BC, however, you sacrifice more of your other stats to obtain that level of resilience in WotLK than you did in BC.

I'm not saying one way or another if you should gear for resil or not. All I'm saying is that it has in fact been nerfed.

That may be true for gladiator gear in general, but the value on sockets and enchantments is still the same, and that's what the threat is about anyway.
In bc I had the choice between 10agi/str/crit/whatever and 10res and now I have the choice between 16agi or 16res. Same situation with the enchantments.
Actually, if it is true that res needs more itempoints on pvp gear than before, this is one more reason to gem and enchant for res, where the value is still the same.

Re: How to gear as a feral in pvp

Cat is a bit squishy in some situations, but resileince helps a lot. I play with a mage and hit up to 1730, except then he accidentally joined 2v2 and we lose before I could get the boots.

I don't gem resilience, only agi and crit. Seem to be doing ok. I also have protector of the pack instead of master shape shifter for some additional survivabilty. (This would be much more beneficial when they remove the party requirement.)

Generally I prefer gear like a rogue, always damage before resileince with some mix of pve. (naxx 25 gear) I've got all the pvp gear except bracers as it would gimp too much damage.

Having said that i'm at 401resileience, 42%crit, 22khps in pvp gear cat form self buff. It seems to be doing the job. At preset I wouldn't switch any pve gear for pvp gear if theres a major difference in gear.

I have taken Deadly chest+gloves over valorous.
I have kept my naxx 25 bracers over pvp.
I'm also keeping my naxx 25 leggings over hateful, not sure about that, if I get one more piece of pvp gear I'll swtich them.

I've only played with burst teams atm, no healers. (That might change shortly though, hitting a block on 3x3 and 5x5 brackets).
