    Lets Talk Trinkets - Holy

Currently I have around 2k healing, 17k mana, and 311 mp5 (while casting) , completely unbufffed. I have currently been stacking spirit and really enjoyed the mp5 and endless mana in heroics and raids. I started to wonder about which trinkets I should use as holy.

I currently have Talisman of Troll Divinity [http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37734] as well as The Egg of Mortal Essence [http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40685]. I'm about done with my Nobles Deck and plan on getting Darkmoon Card: Greatness [http://www.wowhead.com/?item=44254] which is +90 spirit and +300 spirit on proc ( it will be for me).

So I was wondering if I should use the tailsman and the card or the card and the egg. I'm not sure if the sacrifice in sp and boost in spirit will be better or what.

    Here is my spec [http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?prie...=000000000000]
(this is not a discussion on my spec, just the trinkets)

These are some other trinkets involving spirit:

or if you are lucky, I got it from my first nax10 run. ;D

Only jetze's bell has additional spellpower, so I guess sacrificing one trinketslot for any of these wont hurt your spellpower to much.

The trinket is very nice from gothik. Personally I wouldn't use the bell over the card or gothik's trinket. priest should stray away from pure mp5 stat and stick with more spirit stuff, but it does have alot of SP nonetheless.

I think I'm going to try to continue to stack spirit until I feel my heals are getting weak. With the potion nerf I think mp5 is huge because I have never really felt my heals were too weak, but I have felt times I was oom.

Spirit-World Glass and a Darkmoon card: Blue Dragon make a fantastic combo if you are in need of manaregen. The blue dragon is very unreliable - sometimes it procs ten times during a fight, sometimes it just never procs - but overall, if you add the buff in power auras and use your spirit trinket accordingly, you will get 15 seconds of extremely boosted mana regen; which is utterly fantastic. Darkmoon card: Greatness might even be better than the Spirit-World Glass, but I like to retain some control of when I need mana

I'm using this right now with the Troll Divinity trinket:
    http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40382
I really like this crit trinket. I'm at about 30% crit raid buffed and this procs like clockworks every 45s or so.
I'm planning to replace the Troll Divinity trinket with the Spirit Glass or the Darkmoon Greatness spirit trinket.
I use the http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40430 trinket instead of the Troll Divinity one during raid boss fights when I know I'll have the full stacks up the whole time.
I've stacked a lot of crit and mana regen in my gear, but I've noticed that the priests from some of the top guilds are stacking haste instead and have significantly less crit/mana regen. So far my gear is working for me, but eventually I may need to rethink how I'm approaching my holy priest.

I think I read on elitistjerks that 25% crit 'raidbuffed' is what to aim for, and then focus on other stats.

And about the bell, 100mp5 is quite a lot, and I dont like 'on demand' stuff. ;D
But spirit is indead better for holy, because they get regen and a bit of spellpower.

I'm not a holy priest myself, so maybe my view is a bit tunnelvisioned.

when i first looked at the dragon trinket from sarth, i thought it was good for holy... but then i realized the whole point of holy was to get O5SR regen... you have to cast to get the bonus effect.. imo the Bell, the world glass, and the dark moon faire trinket are all better.

I am Shadow but I do have some very nice offspec gear as well:

For trinkets I am using these:
    http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40685
    and
    http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40430

Both are extremely good and tbh, I dont think will change any of the 2 untill ulduar for sure.

About Spirit-World Glass and a Darkmoon card: Blue Dragon.
I use the same combo and have to admit I think I'm going to use it for a long time.
In a 10 player's raid, when you nearly never stop casting during boss fight, it proc in almost every encounter. And often more than once. It grant you a very good mana regen boost.

Somebody a comment about this combo and how to 'break' it?

PS: Sorry for my bad english...

I use [item=44254] and [item=39388]. Both awesome trinkets for holy.

Got Blue Dragon in my bag, but i rarely use it. Raidbuffed i'm at nearly 2000 regen not casting and 750ish while casting (SWG activated and Greatness procc). HC proccs + IF are more than enough to keep my mana nearly full at all times.

Venara: I did some heavy calculations on the subject, and I came to the conclusion that nothing was capable of beating the dragon+spirit-world crystal combo in terms of pure manaregen in theoretical setups.

There are bascially two things that affect the managain from trinkets. How much you cast, and what your innate regen is (spirit and int). I did some calculations based on a 900int/900spi setup as well as a 1293int/2586spi setup. The latter is probably not attainable even with T9 gear in WoTLK, but should give a good note on how the trinkets scale. And I tested these setups in "typical raiding", "constant spam", and "constant spam with a lot of spellhaste to boot" mode. The first mode is probably the only value worth noting.

Darkmoon Card: Blue Dragon gave me the following results, and has a lot of synergy as it is effectively capable of increasing the gain of spirit bonuses on other trinkets by 70%. It also scales wonderfully. On the downside, it's extremely unreliable.

    -- Scenario A: Typical raiding Scenario B: Heavy spamming Scenario C: Heavy spamming /w hasteSetup A: 900/900 73 MP5 87 MP5 109 MP5Setup B: 1293/2856 253 MP5 301 MP5 377 MP5

Living Ice Crystal gives a flat 43 MP5, a worthy reference point. Also gives a free heal, which unfortunately is very weak.

Soul of the Dead gives a lot of crit which I didn't take into the calculation, but the proc effect yields the following gain:

    -- Scenario A: Typical raiding Scenario B: Heavy spamming Scenario C: Heavy spamming /w hasteAvg time between procs 78.75 sec 67.5 sec 63 secMana gained 57 MP5 66 MP5 71 MP5

Darkmoon Card: Greatness is a fantastic trinket as it procs on pretty much anything, which means the downtime will be almost nil in any casting mode. You can argue that a decent approximation is that the proc is up 1/3rd of the time. Meaning this trinket on average gives 190 spirit.

    --GainsSetup A: 900/900158/47 MP5Setup B: 1293/2586190/57 MP5

Je'Tze's Bell is very reliable, but the gains aren't that great compared to the rest of the bunch. Gives a very decent spellpower boost though.

    -- Scenario A: Typical raiding Scenario B: Heavy spamming Scenario C: Heavy spamming /w hasteAvg Time between procs 67.5 seconds 60 seconds 57 secondsAverage Mana gained 22 MP5 25 MP5 26 MP5

Majestic Dragon Figurine is imo not really a holy priest trinket; as this one will break with out healing style. But you can argue that is worth a flat 180 spirit in heavy spamfights. The numbers below will assume this.

    -- GainsSetup A: 900/900 150/45 MP5Setup B: 1293/2856 180/54 MP5

Spirit-World Glass is a very potent upgrade from the TBC Lurker Trinket. A very nice flat spirit bonus, plus a on-use boost makes this my favourite in WoTLK. On paper, it's not as good as many other trinkets in this list, but it's very well suited to our style. The numbers assume using it on every cooldown.

    -- GainsSetup A: 900/900 117/35 MP5Setup B: 1293/2856 140/42 MP5

Figurine - Sapphire Owl is the second best scaling manaregen trinket in the game. It does however require you to level jewelcrafting. And frankly, this trinket is probably worth the hassle.

    -- GainsSetup A: 900/900 87/54 MP5Setup B: 1293/2856 394/146 MP5

    Nicely done Danner!

I can agree that our little Blue Dragon is probably the best scaling item ever created (from a healing perspective). The reason why i use it only on a few occasions is that it's proc is simply very unreliable, as you mentioned in your comparison.

Personally i prefer more reliable trinkets. I think no one can argue with the SWP as one of the two trinkets for a holy priest. Combined with HC proccs or other means of regen with 100% it's a valuable mana boost.

For the choice of the second trinket i believe your personal style while affect this choice in any case. Personally i chose DMCG because it allows me to gem for Int/SP/Haste while keeping up a nice bunch of spirit all the time.
