    Re: Icy Prism?

it makes you a profit, almost guaranteed
so depending on the gem prices on your server anywhere from 30-80g I'd say is resonable

Charge extra for Dragon's Eyes. Depending on how much those cost on the AH.

    Re: Icy Prism?

    Anywhere between 30 - 50g seems like a reasonable price for a cooldown, especially a newly-added one.

Will depend on your server though, consider asking in your trade chat for a Prism cooldown & ask the people who reply how much they're charging. That will give you a good idea of the current market on your server; if you just want your skillups & a little gold on the side, undercut them. If you want to make gold, stick to a higher price & turn down anyone who won't pay it.

I honestly don't understand what you people are talking about? Selling a Icy Prism CD? Why in gods name would you ever want to do that? Why would anyone else want to do that? The mats for them are practically free.. and I don't know about your server, but on mine the only gems that cant be cut into something good worth 50g alone are Forest Emeralds and Sky Sapphires. The person selling the CD is almost certainly losing money..

Or am I retard and missing somthing?

    the orb.
Not every one got marks to spare or is lucky enough to win an orb in a HC, and between 10 marks for a scarlet ruby that makes 100g+ guaranteed or chance on good gems i can understand people spending there marks on gems.
And on some servers the orbs are going for 100g upwards.
Kind of sour when you buy one for 100g, stick 9 gems in it and all you get is forest emeralds and blue crap sapphires.

I've seen 30/40g fly by in trade.

    Re: Icy Prism?

I guess it is kind of like running a casino They give you 100g worth of mats and a 50g or whatever fee and hope to strike it rich with a Dragon's Eye.

It is hard to say how much the CD is "worth" without knowing the probabilities of each gem. It will also depend on your server and the prices there.

It is looking like the chance for a Dragon's Eye is relatively high, and on my server the price difference between a Frozen Orb and Dragon's Eye is almost 200g. Scarlet Rubies are worth around 100g, Autumn's Glow/Monarch Topaz are worth about 60g, and the others are worth about 10-15g. So, before the fee, there is a chance you'll LOSE about 80g (worst case) and a chance you'll make 300g (best case). I'd probably charge 50g or so, but I don't plan on selling them, as they are pretty profitable to just do yourself.

I haven't really seen people trying to buy them, either.

I guess thats possible. I didnt really think about it because before the patch even came I had almost 40 orbs ( I always just hit need on the orb at the end, no one even notices and on my server they go for 25G )- Which is enough for 40 days worth of Icy Prisms..

Mostly people won an orb in a HC run.
They figure to spent some g on green gems and hit the jackpot on gems (scarlet ruby's/dragon's eyes).

    Re: Icy Prism?

Bought 4 cd's and used my own a day ago, paid 20g per cd bought, got 3 rubys, 2 autumns, 3 Monarchs and 1 Dragons eye; some other gems but those are trash to me :P. Pretty nice haul for only 80g

    Re: Icy Prism?

I tried using it for the first few days after the patch. I walked away with Forest Emeralds and Twilight Opals, all of which are going for dirt cheap on my server. I would have made 4-8x the gold had I simply sold the Frozen Orbs. Now, I sell my cooldown if I ever see someone asking for it in trade (usually around 25g). Brilliant Glass was pretty much the same way for me. Tala-emeralds are FTL.

    Re: Icy Prism?

I would never sell a CD.

If you are an active JC, buying/selling/cutting/prospecting you will have more green gems then you can sell (you dont want to flood AH) so the only real cost IMO is the Frozen Orb. So now we are down to the server prices.

My server sells F. Orbs for arround 30g and the average gem price is 30-50g. If I only go for the best cuts its arround 45-50g, its just the red thats arround 125g.

I will bet, if you dont have some inzane server prices, its just like JC in general, you will make money - some days are just better then others.

    Re: Icy Prism?

Ofc there's the unscrupulous and unethical practice of crafting a prism checking (and picking) for the best gems and selling the container with whatever crappy gem there's inside, but I'm quite certain nobody here would do that...am I right? 8)

if your in a party you cannot do that coz hell see it.. not everyone is an idiot...

    Re: Icy Prism?

He only sees what you loot from the prism, you dont loot a dragon's eye and it remains in the prism therefore he doesnt "see" it
Ilvl is like a Bikini. What it shows is interesting, what it hides is crutial!

    Re: Icy Prism?

I finally got my JC high enough over the weekend to be able to prospect saronite and make icy prisms. I turned the 300g I had left over on that character into 1500g in 2 days.

    I missed JC

But more on topic, I don't really know why you'd sell your cooldown. It would cost me 50 for the orb (I have like 20 in my bank still, but if I didn't...) and 9 gems that I already have a ton of, and unless I get unlucky and get only Forest Emeralds, I make money. Even if I only got 1 emerald and 1 sapphire, I break even after factoring the green gems in. Emeralds easily sell for 10g each, so even if I get 3x emeralds, I only lose 20g. Not really a big deal when you can make 500g in 10 minutes of prospecting and cutting, or when you can get like 400g worth of gems out of a prism.

    Re: Icy Prism?

Uh oh... selling your cooldown would be like, the most stupid thing ever.

    AlmostFreeOrb + 9FreeGems = TonsOfGold

If you want to sell it, around 200-250g would be a fitting price.

    Re: Icy Prism?

lol i feel dumb now, i got jc to 420 yesterday
and sold a prism for 30g

Last time I checked,Prisms aren't unique. If you want you can "cheat" someone in your own party by keeping previous crap-filled prisms handy to trade instead of new ones.In my server, people actually buy the prisms themselves though even if they're not present in the crafting. As for being an idiot,no not really...an asshole maybe, but the idiot is the one who's getting "cheated".
