    Prot Warr Guide

    Hey All!
I put together a guide for fresh 80 Prot Warriors on how to gear up for raiding. Please offer any feedback, suggestions, or advice you have. I worked hard on this so please don't flame me. I hope you like it and find it useful.

    Thanks.

    Re: Prot Warr Guide

Thanks Karmac, nice guide indeed. I spend ages flicking between these forums, elitist jerks, tankspot etc but having so much in 1 guide is cool.
I notice most of the gear listed in that section is instance drops, very nice ones, but i'm so unlucky with drop rates these are a couple of alternate BoE or rep items I picked up.

Bracer : Tempered Saronite Bracers http://www.wowhead.com/?item=41116
    Hands : Daunting Handguards http://www.wowhead.com/?item=41357
Waist : Waistguard of the Risen Knight http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37801
Legs : Special Issue Legplates http://www.wowhead.com/?item=44240

One day the nicer instance drops will drop for me

    "Booming Voice 2/2"

    I stopped reading there. Sorry.

Edit: Ok, I lied. I kept reading.

So, remember to gem hit before expertise. Why? Because you need to hit your target first. Then worry about lowering their ability to dodge/parry your attack.
    Srsly?

    Re: Prot Warr Guide

A few problems with your guide

    1) NE's dont get 2% dodge as racial,
    2) Your 7/10/54 build, why would you ever get improved charge or booming voice with that spec setup
    3) Your 15/3/53 build I chuckled at a bit.. improved charge AND rend? rend or charge is the filler choice, its one or the other, not both.

its 2% miss chance againts melee and ranged attacks.

The 15/3/53 build is flawed because its your deep wounds spec, that doesnt have cruelty? the spec thrives on crit. I suggest this instead.
    15/5/51

You pickup as many crit points as you can, while still getting shockwave in prot.
choose rend or charge in your build as you will, rend is better TPS when used at the right time but it takes a bit of keeping an eye on. Personally I go for charge because of how easy naxx is u can just soak up the extra initial rage for AoE threat.

and as previously said, expertise is far better than hit.

For gemming I only use 2 types... 3 if I need it.

    Solid - 24 Stam
    Guardian Twilight - 8 expertise - 12 stam
and 8 def - 12 stam if I need it, which I dont...

You only gem 2 guardians for meta (I use block meta seeing as I dont need the HP and 2% armour is about 0.3% at my gear level.) and the rest stamina, rarely go for the socket bonus if u can help it.

PS. My sig is very old, hasnt updated in a long time, not sure why.

Sorry for typos and not much explaining, very tired.

    Re: Prot Warr Guide

Just one thing, why bother to do another prot guide since there are so many *excellent* guides out there?

Not trying to get you down, but I can't really get your point.

I red some parts of if, and couldn't help to notice you are missing some shield enchants, being them +18stamina and +40SBV.

And about the presentation, you should try to get some colors on it, reading white text on black background is tiring.

I just felt like putting one together.

There is no point to get. Was just trying to be helpful.

Actually, the +40SBV is located in the Blacksmithing section. However, I did forget to add the +18Stam, so thank you.

I agree. Now, to just find the right color scheme....
