After making and deleting a few shaman alts throughout the years, I decided to level one as elemental, decked out in heirloom items. I'm level 60 now, thinking about what I might do with it at 80. I do like healing. So I might make this my Dual Spec, and possibly with this build I can heal and put out some damage as well.
The main point of this spec are as follows:
1. Get Cleanse in the resto tree, as well as any suitable PvP talents (Like Focused Mind and Healing Grace).
2. Get Ghost Wolf in Enhancement.
3. Put the rest in Elemental, getting what is most useful.
Glyphs:
I figure Flame Shock because it's pretty much required for Ele (though FS can still get dispelled...hmm...), and Frost Shock will help with kiting and/or running away of course. I'm not sure about the last glyph. Perhaps Lightning Shield, LvB, or Earth Shock?
Ghost Wolf and Water Shield are the only minor glyphs that would help in arena. But in BGs or just farming, or in general the Reincarnation glyph is nice.
Problems/Concerns/Issues/Concerns
-It's a hybrid build, which usually aren't that great (but admittedly I don't know jack about shamans).
-Restorative Totems can be switched with Tidal Mastery
-Enhancing Totems can be replaced with 3/5 Ancestral Knowledge
-Elemental Mastery replaceable with NS? (Talking Patch 3.1 here)
-Should I drop points in something and try to get Reverberation?
Guess I'd have to actually try the spec out and get a feel for it to see what talents to shuffle around.
-Is it sacrificing too much DPS in elemental just to get Cleanse? Is it even worth it to put any points in Resto because the heals will be too gimped. Although I believe with the Spell Power change in WotLK this hybrid spec does have hope.
-Is arena too bursty and too much of a DPS race to even consider doing this?
Positive Points
-Pretty much every spell has pushback resistance.
-I get great utility with Cleanse, Silence/Interrupts reduced with dispell resistance.
-Have DPS talents, Fire Nova stun, increased range and Elemental Warding to reduce my damage taken in Ele.
-I'll be able to support and heal my partners/myself while being able to put down pressure with some damage of my own, in theory.
Writer's Note: Please bear with my crazy rambling, as it's 2 in the morning and I'm bored. Feel free to rip this little spec apart piece by piece.
