    Class Specific Items

I have kind of stolen this idea from Diablo 2.
But how would you all feel if Blizzard ever implemented class specific items?
These should be bound to a small set of classes (or even all classes except 2-3). They already have this feature available on some items (think Warglaives) yet i would like to see it more. And with unique side effects.
Also i would like to see more items with added resistance, instead of wearing a stam+resistance item. This in term would be a change of (for example) itemization, and allow even more flexible items.

    An Example:

    Handgarment of Unsacred Flames
    Binds when picked up
    Hands Cloth
    437 Armor
    +68 Stamina
    +96 Intellect
    +128 Spirit
    Durability 135 / 135
    Classes: Warlock, Mage
    Requires Level 80
Equip: Increases spell power by 81.
Equip: Increases Fire haste rating by 122.
Equip: Critical hits made with your Fire spells reduce the casting time of your next Fireball, and Incinerate spell cast within 6 seconds by 7%.

    Another more specific example:

    Neckguard of Excruciating Torment
    Binds when picked up
    Neck
    +33 Stamina
    +66 Agility (Rogue, Druid, Hunter)
    +48 Strength (Warrior)
    Classes: Warrior, Rogue, Druid, Hunter
    Requires Level 80
Equip: Reduces damage taken from Bleed Effects by 7%.
Equip: Increases attack power by 84.
Equip: Your bleeding effects have a chance equal to your highest Critical Strike chance to increase your next auto-attack's or auto-shot's Critical Strike chance by 6% .

    Or something totally cross-class:

    Soulguarding Soothe-Walkers
    Binds when picked up
    Feet
    Priest: 371 Armor
    Paladin: 1242 Armor
    +62 Stamina
    +112 Intellect
    +27 Shadow Resistance
    +56 Spirit (Priest)
    +34 Intellect (Paladin)
    Durability 135 / 135
    Classes: Paladin, Priest
    Requires Level 80
Equip: Increases spell power by 81.
Equip: Increases your Power Word: Shield, and Sacred Shield spell's absorbtion gained from Healing Power by 5%.

Of course everything is possible in this way, and would allow for a more diverse game IMO.

I'm not trying to be prick here so bear with me. They already have class specific loot. It's called tier pieces. Blizzard has stated several times and has done everything they can to move away from class specific items. It used to be there was Pally tank gear, warrior tank gear, pally dps gear, warrior dps gear. Now, there is merely tank gear, plate dps gear. They made this move because if the item dropped and that particular spec / class was not in the raid, it merely got DEd.

While your idea could have worked in TBC, now it is an outdated idea that does not fit with the philosophy Blizzard has pushed.

    Re: Class Specific Items

    Yeah i know Tier Loot.
But why do all stats have to be like:
    +X
    +Y
    +Z

and that's about it. I want more items with unique things. Similiar to some level 60 items. Also Tier gear is restricted to 1 single class. All classes have SOME similiarity between them, and that's what binds them into wearing just that specific piece of equipment that is just utter crap for other classes.

I'm not saying all items should be like this, I'm just saying it would be more fun then just having a new item which has nothing more or less then 7 additional stats.

Effects like: 2% more bleed damage(that helps physical classes only), or more % DoT damage (which would help some classes more then others)

Please do not think of me as some tard, i'm making serious suggestions here. And i would love having my feeling back as a UNIQUE character then just *that warrior with 10 ap more then the other*

An interesting idea, but not gonna happen because:

    a) it would mean far bigger loot tables, which means the chance of the one you want dropping is going to be lower in the first place.

    b) some bonus effects are always going to be more powerful than those on other gear, making effects that are comparable would be a development nightmare.

    c) blizz keep going on about homegenizing gear, so this would be the exact opposite.

Maybe if loot like this was attained through something other than just a straight drop. Like some sort of turn in, either quest drop off bosses like the saph item, or even just badges. Special type items to fill the gaps not filled by specific tier items belt/boots/bracers what have you.

    To your C:

Truth is hard, and this might be the truth.
Though my idea of Class Specific Items would be awesome, it's not likely to happen though. But what i do want to happen and shouldn't be too hard would be simple normal gear with just a teeny bit of resistance, or 1 stat exageratted in context to the other stats on it.

IMO a bit of resistance should be added to pvp gear as well (yet that's for an other thread )

Too bad WoW seems to be taking out the fun part of items. Here are some good old *fun* examples:

http://www.wowhead.com/?item=17705 - Extra chance to hit = awesome (perhaps make it a 25% dmg chance on hit, and add it to new 80+ gear?)

http://www.wowhead.com/?item=22691 - A negative stat, and a lifestealing proc. Now that's something unique and exotic which is first of all FUN!

http://www.wowhead.com/?item=19365 - Fist weapon with Strength, IMO this is something of the exotic kind which i love. Might not be perfect, but would be something more fun to speculate about some hybrid specs.

I KNOW THESE ITEMS WHERE MADE PRE-LK/BC AND ARE ITEMIZED LIKE THAT.
Just noting down some fun items

Dude, that totally compliments the idea!

Or something like a quest only available for certain classes :P?

    Re: Class Specific Items

Its a fun idea, and one I wouldnt mind to see in some way or another because as you say, it could bring us away from absolutely everyone having the same gear. Rogues for example, its 4pc t7.5 plus the chest from malygos, pew pew best in slot on all accounts because of the 4-set bonus yay (at least on my spread sheet ). And generally thats the gear I see most well-geared rogues in on my server atm.

But imagine balancing a bunch of effects in terms of dps/healing/avoidance/threat value as compared to raw stats. I certainly don't want to see another Dragonspine Trophy situation where, say, a pair of gloves from Ulduar have such a powerful bonus that they aren't replaced until the penultimate boss in Icecrown or something because of scaling (Only the trinket from m'uru beat the DST, afaik). I mean if you got the DST early on, congratulations, but it took me roughly 7 months of weekly kills to even see one drop.

So yeah, issues with balancing will likely prevent this from happening. Blizz seem to have a hard enough time balancing classes anyway :
