Opinions on FB/ttw 20/51/0 compared to 18/53/0

I've looked around a bit at fire dps builds and I was curious as to what peoples thoughts are on picking up student of the mind over flamethrowing since we get the spirit benefit now?
Plugging it into Rawr it shows about a 27dps gain with my current gear. Can anyone think of a fight in Ulduar where I would be at a severe disadvantage with the lack of the extra range?
Chances are I won't be stacking the scorch debuff, so the short range of scorch isn't really a problem.

Its pretty obvious that Student of the Mind and Combustion without any points in flame throwing (increased distance) would give the most dps in a simulation. I just don't know if losing both points in flame throwing is worth it. Its nice to be able to stand still for one or two extra casts during mobile fights.

I'm planning on trying 2/3 Student of the Mind, 1/2 Flame Throwing, 1/1 Combustion to start out.

I went 3/3 SoM, 1/2 Flame Throwing, 0/1 Combustion. Raid crit will be insane anyways, Combustion is highly overrated now.

Agreed. I ended up doing this build instead as well. It was actually an accident though. I put 3 points in Student of the Mind (instead of 2/3) and forgot to change the option that allows us to remove points and then confirming our talents at then end. All points that are allocated before you change the option stay.

Honestly I still prefer Arcane. I need to spec my old Arcane spec to compare the dps. In Naxx I was ending the entire raid (including trash–overall dps) around 4800-5000dps. In Ulduar I'm currently at 3300-3500'ish.
