Spriests, what are we missing out?

My guild has gotten 10/14 bosses down so far in ulduar 25 and it's been challenging but nothing has come across that made us feel we have something missing. It was always a matter of execution. But when I look at all the world first screen shots and wws reports there are almost at least 2 or 3 vampire face melters. I also recall reading ensidia's list of pro tips for progression that "moar spriests" was #6. So my question is what do spriests bring to the raid that trumps, nay even edges out other casters? They have the hit buff which is only a bit better than the moonkins, replenishment seems line a non issue,
and they don't seem to have more longevity or survival than other clothies. The only thing I can think of is VE which just seems like another healing
spring totem or maybe their aoe is a bit better than balance/frostfire... But by how much is it really? Wouldn't the target requirment make it worse?

So what really makes spriests so good and where can we find more competant ones? Is it worth making a holy/disc respec?

Speaking as a fellow Spriest, I can only say this: Love your specc, or change it.

I loved playing as an Spriest, back in Sunwell. It was fun. They don't necessarily bring more exciting buffs than they used to (Vampiric touch- mana battery lolz).

Some Spriests have insane damage, some don't..It's all on how you play..

Also, Mind Sear is pretty nice for AoE =)

I imagine VE is a big part of it, honestly. I suppose the ability to bubble oneself for a bit isn't terrible either.
But basically, VE's a solid raid heal, along with providing yourself a ton of healing. With as much raid damage as there is, it provides a buffer against screwups. Helps keep people topped off, so big attacks are less likely to bring someone down. The less likely any given person is to die, the longer every attempt can be held together, so the more likely you'll get more practice.

That's my perspective on it, anyways.
I don't think it's really worth "forcing" a holy/disc respec, though. If they want to, maybe encourage it, but making people play other things is generally bad mojo.

With, let's say, 5k (which is a nice round number) dps a fully skilled VE heals the spriests party (not the raid!) for 250 per second. Which is kinda nice as it is a constant hot on a party.
Also shadowpriests provide the ever wanted 3% hit chance for casters. Without this no caster is hitcapped.
    Then, replenishment of course.
    And bubbles.
And dispels. It's always better for a dpser to dispel stuff than for a healer.

With VE healing the priest for far more than the party, and DP too, a shadowpriest is basically a self containing unit. He doesn't have to get heals (most of the time for aoe stuff, targeted huge spikes of course VE can't heal through).

Edit: Forgot that they have the second best AOE in the game (close behind fan of knives).
You know what is better than drinking a beer? Brewing your own beer. And then drinking it. And then... Drinking another beer. And then, punching somebody in the snout! That's what!

The single best thing we spriests bring is of course the 3% spell hit. The healing from VE often isn't counted for a lot since the healing it provides is pretty minimal.
If I was a Blizz server technician, I'd hijack a server and use it to download porn 24/7. Guess why the instance servers always are full B]

very good point ^^ in 10man ulduar i only need heal when i´m in kologarns grip, slag pot etc but even then it´s not necessary becasue of dispersion ^^

edit: and the already mentioned 3%hit, replenishment, ve raidheal, good aoe, 4-5.5k dps (well geared), dispel
